This is the September 5th, 2005 edition of Glory2Glory Christian Music E-zine!, a contemporary Christian music and modern Worship newsletter distributed to gospel music enthusiasts around the world.

Please join me in praying for families in New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast that have been displaced due to the Hurricane Katrina catastrophe.  Also please consider donating to World Vision, a Christian relief organization known worldwide for moving quickly and efficiently when disaster strikes.  World Vision is working with churches and other groups to distribute urgently needed supplies to the hurricane victims, so to donate, click here or copy & paste this URL in your browser’s address field:  www.worldvision.org

IN THE NEWS:

Solo artist and 4HIM member MARK HARRIS is performing a free concert for Hurricane Katrina evacuees near his hometown on Wednesday (September 7th.)  Over 250 displaced refugees are currently living in the Robertsdale, Alabama First Baptist Church and Harris says he wants to provide some encouragement and a reprieve from the tragic event.  “It is a very sad situation for anyone who had coastal property on Mobile Bay, Dauphin Island, and anything further west,” according to Harris.  “The wind damage was not that bad but the water damage was the worst it has ever been.  I have lived here all my life and been through all the major hurricanes, Camille, Frederick, Ivan, etc., but this is by far the worst because of the size and the overall scope of damage.  Please keep us all in your prayers as we on the Gulf Coast clean up and pick up the pieces,” the singer added.

Harris, who lives in Mobile, is asking for donations for First Baptist Church of Robertsdale to help them continue to send trucks every day to damaged communities in the area, providing these storm victims with food and water.  You can send checks to:  First Baptist Church of Robertsdale, Attn: Katrina Relief Fund, 22703 Racine St., Robertsdale, AL 36567. <><

Project Restore, the gospel music industry’s official crisis response organization, is helping Hurricane Katrina evacuees in the Gulf Coast states.  The Gospel Music Association is partnering with the Gospel Music Channel (GMC) for a live benefit concert on Thursday, Sept. 22nd.  The televised event will be held at the Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta and will air live on GMC from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM (CDT) and on PAX TV from 7:00 – 9:00 PM (CDT).

Also Project Restore’s website (www.ProjectRestore.org) is encouraging donations to Project Restore’s partner, World Vision, and other agencies which are providing disaster relief for the affected areas.  Since the concert is still in the planning stages, World Vision has already begun shipping emergency supplies and other essential items to those on the Gulf Coast who were devastated by Hurricane Katrina.  Truckloads of supplies from World Vision sites in Dallas, Washington, D.C., Pittsburgh and Denver are being sent to the stricken areas and distributed through a network of local churches, faith-based organizations and other partners, such as the American Red Cross. <><

Worship artist JASON MORANT, who lives in New Orleans, lost his home and his band’s equipment in Katrina’s fury, but the singer’s sister in Slidell, Louisiana, saw the hurricane’s eyewall pass right over her hometown.  Morant and his manager Jay Hall, assisted by Rocketown Records and World Vision, are trucking relief supplies to his sister’s church, which has set up a shelter for residents who stayed and rode out the violent storm.  A recent eleven vehicle caravan was also filled with music industry volunteers from Franklin, Tennessee. <><

SOUNDBYTES:

THIRD DAY has released the first single from their upcoming new album early.  "Cry Out to Jesus," which is also being played by some mainstream radio stations as the theme of hope for Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts, is accompanied by a PSA recorded by the band directing people to World Vision's website (www.WorldVision.org) for donations to the relief efforts. <>< CASTING CROWNS will donate all of the proceeds from their Oct. 20th. concert in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Katrina’s victims.  In only one week, Baton Rouge has doubled its population with the addition of refugees from nearby disaster-stricken New Orleans. <>< Gospel singer and American Idol finalist GEORGE HUFF has also been affected by Hurricane Katrina, which destroyed his family's home in the “Big Easy.”  Huff, who lived with his mother and siblings in New Orleans, says that he and fourteen of his relatives are now staying at his brother's house in Dallas. <>< Singer and comedian MARK LOWRY is headlining a benefit concert for hurricane victims at Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee on September 27th.  Other artists also scheduled to appear with Lowry include KIRK TALLEY, THE BLACKWOOD QUARTET and LORDSONG (for more info, visit www.chilhoweehills.org.) <><
