This is the September 19th, 2005 edition of Glory2Glory Christian Music E-zine!, a contemporary Christian music and modern Worship newsletter distributed to gospel music enthusiasts around the world.

Please continue to pray for the families and individuals from New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast that have been displaced due to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.  Also consider donating to “Convoy of Hope”, a Christian disaster relief organization that is delivering semi-truckloads of food, water and ice to the hurricane victims in the Gulf Coast area.  To donate to Convoy of Hope, click here or copy & paste this URL in your browser’s address field:  www.convoyofhope.org

IN THE NEWS:

<>< The Gospel Music Association's Hurricane Katrina-relief event Gospel Angels: A Concert to Restore Hope is set to air this Thursday (September 22nd) at 6:00 pm CDT.  The GMA’s Project Restore is sponsoring the benefit, which is the Christian music industry's united effort to benefit the victims of Katrina.  The event will originate from Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park and will be televised on the Gospel Music Channel, Paxson Communications Corporation's “i” channel (formerly PAX TV), the Worship Network and heard live on XM Radio.  The concert will be hosted by CECE WINANS and will feature live performances by BARLOWGIRL, THE BLIND BOYS OF ALABAMA, NATALIE GRANT, New Orleans’ native GEORGE HUFF, ISRAEL & NEW BREED, NICOLE C. MULLIN, NEWSONG, and AARON SHUST.  Also the benefit concert will include taped performances from Houston with THIRD DAY and in Dallas featuring KIRK FRANKLIN, FRED HAMMOND, MARY MARY and YOLANDA ADAMS.

<><  As glory2glory e-zine reported last week, SEVENTH DAY SLUMBER will be visiting cities around the South where Hurricane Katrina evacuee camps and shelters have been set up.  Joseph Rojas and the members of SDS are offering to perform for free in concerts that are open to the public for a donation of food, water or relief supplies with a time of worship and prayer after the show.  In one such evacuee site in northeast Louisiana, almost 10,000 Katrina evacuees had fled the devastating storm, so Seventh Day Slumber has offered to headline a benefit concert there in the northeastern corner of this hurricane-ravaged state with local Christian rock & worship bands WAITING FOR ISAAC and BLISS.  Billed as “Three Bands for Three Cans Or Three Bucks,” all canned goods and donations collected at the concert held at First Assembly of God Church in West Monroe will benefit the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana for emergency food assistance to displaced hurricane evacuees in the area.  Also the next day, band members will visit several hundred evacuees, including about 80 mentally challenged adults from the New Orleans area, who are camped out in a state park in Morehouse Parish.  Rojas and SDS will treat these Gulf Coast residents to a private concert, followed by a time of fellowship and prayer.  For more information, visit www.glory2gloryproductions.com or to help out the band’s bighearted efforts with a donation, go to www.seventhdayslumber.com.

<>< A new Christmas album from producers Steve Hindalong and Marc Byrd (City On A Hill series) will hit stores on September 27th.  Come Let Us Adore Him will feature a dozen original tracks performed by artists including BEBO NORMAN, CAEDMON’S CALL, DAY OF FIRE’s frontman Josh Brown, JARS OF CLAY, JOY WILLIAMS, KRYSTAL MEYERS and THIRD DAY.

<>< The ROCK N ROLL WORSHIP CIRCUS is changing their name to coincide with the release of their next CD.  THE LISTENING’s new album will drop on November 15th, and according to lead vocalist Gabriel Wilson, the band’s latest project is about “all of us ‘listening’ to what He had to say.”  “Throughout the Bible, the Lord calls people to a new path and changes their name.  Abram and Sarai became ‘Abraham’ and ‘Sarah’; Saul became ‘Paul’; Cephas became ‘Peter’,” Wilson explained.  “Everything in their lives led up to that point, and then one day, the Lord said, ‘Go.’”

SOUNDBYTES:

SWITCHFOOT will guest on CBS-TV’s Early Show next week before setting out on a tour of Australia.  The band will perform acoustic sets of “Stars,” “Dare,” “Meant To Live” and “Shadow Proves the Sunshine.” <>< After a 16-year career in Christian music, 4HIM says their next album will be their last, so the group is releasing their final studio project on November 22nd.  Andy Chrisman, Kirk Sullivan, Mark Harris and Marty Magehee all met in 1990 while still performing with the vocal group TRUTH. <>< TREE63 is also releasing a new studio worship album on that same date (November 22nd.)  Worship Volume 1:  I Stand For You will include original worship songs, new versions of some of Tree63’s hits from earlier projects and several worship classics. <>< A hurricane relief concert will be held Friday (September 23rd) in Franklin, Tennessee at “Ecclesia” located in Building 8 of The Factory in Franklin.  "From Our Family to Their Family:  A Family Concert" will include performances by JUMP5, RACHAEL LAMPA and EVERLIFE. <>< RELIENT K will re-release their fourth album, Mmhmm, on November 18th bundled with The Apathetic EP.  The bonus disc will include acoustic versions of "Be My Escape," "Which to Bury, Us or the Hatchet" and "Over Thinking," plus new songs "The Truth," "Apathetic Way to Be," "In Like a Lion (Always Winter)" and "The Thief." <><
