IN THE NEWS:  DAVID CROWDER*BAND’s pastor Kyle Lake was electrocuted while performing a baptismal service yesterday (Oct. 30.)  The 33-year-old minister reached for a microphone while standing in water in the church’s baptismal pool and was killed.  Lake pastored University Baptist Church in Waco, Texas, which is located on the campus of Baylor, Texas and is where the David Crowder*Band returns on most Sundays to lead praise & worship.  Pastor Lake is survived by his wife and three children. <><  

KIRK FRANKLIN is busy with several television appearances this week.  Franklin will perform on the “BET 25 Strong: The Silver Anniversary” special Tuesday evening (Nov. 1) at 8:00 pm CDT.  Also the Platinum-selling Gospel artist will appear on “Live With Regis And Kelly” Wednesday morning (Nov. 2) and will perform his latest single, “Looking For You”, which is the #1 single on Billboard Magazine’s Gospel radio chart (check local listings for stations and airtimes.) <>< 

Christian rock crossover bands SWITCHFOOT and LIFEHOUSE are both celebrating Gold status for their latest albums.  Switchfoot’s “Nothing Is Sound” has just been certified Gold by the RIAA with the help of the CD’s very successful first single, "Stars."  Also the L.A.-based Lifehouse was presented a gold plaque for their self-titled project, signifying sales of over 500,000 copies. <><  

A live recording from JENNIFER KNAPP will be released on January 24th.  “Jennifer Knapp Live” was recorded on the “Back Forty Tour” in the spring of 2001 and will include 13 favorites from the singer-songwriter including “Into You,” “Lay It Down,” “The Way I Am,” “Romans,” “Refine Me,” “Usher Me Down,” “When Nothing Satisfies,” “Martyrs & Thieves,” “Whole Again,” “A Little More,” “Fall Down,” “Hold Me Now,” and “Undo Me.” Before dropping completely out of Christian music in 2003, Knapp sold over 1 million albums, won two Dove Awards, garnered a GRAMMY Award nomination, and was named one of the Top 50 touring acts by Pollstar Magazine. <><
