RELIENT K’s new single from their latest album, “mmHmm,” recently hit #1 on MTV.com, proving that frontman Matt Thiessen was wrong when he once told a co-worker his band would never appear on Music Television Network. In a recent NewsDay interview, Thiessen said that he
still remembers his last day as shift manager at Wendy's in Bolivar, Ohio, five years ago when one of his co-workers bid him farewell with, "See you on MTV." “I didn't want to tell her she was wrong and say, 'Well, no, you probably won't because we're not that kind of band,'" recalled Thiessen. Now Christian rock band Relient K’s videos are played in heavy rotation on MTV with their latest hit, “Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been,” reaching the #1 position. <><
THIRD DAY’s new album, “Wherever You Are,” has debuted at #8 on the “Billboard Hot 200” album sales chart. The Atlanta-based band's latest project sold over 63,000 copies to debut in the Top 10 along side mainstream superstar Santana, Black Eyed Peas, Nickleback, Rod Stewart and Ashlee Simpson. <><
The Grammy-nominated girl group POINT OF GRACE recently released two new books in an effort to “reach out to teenage girls and encourage them to remain true to themselves and God,” according to a press release. The devotional, "Girls of Grace: Make It Real" and a Bible study workbook, "Q&A with Point of Grace" (both from Howard Publishing) tackles specific issues facing young girls today. <><
BHT Records’ JOHN DAVID WEBSTER is a new daddy. Webster's wife Kirsten recently gave birth to their first daughter, Aria Hope, who weighed in at a healthy 10 pounds, 9 ounces! Little Aria joins 4-year-old brother Zion and 2-year-old Jaden in the Webster household. <><
Wind-up Records’ SCOTT STAPP will be
featured as part of MLB.com's "Best Records" campaign. Creed’s former lead singer will have two songs from his new solo album, “The Great Divide,” available on the major league baseball’s website through January 15, 2006. Also a “fly-away sweepstakes” promotion is being offered on the site with a grand prize winner traveling to one of four U.S. cities to see Stapp perform on his upcoming "The Great Divide" 2006 spring tour. <><
