IN THE NEWS:
CASTING CROWNS has hit Gold with their sophomore album “Lifesong.” The Atlanta band’s fastest-selling album to date has shipped more than 500,000 copies after debuting at No. 9 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart only 12 weeks ago, making them one of only two Christian artists to break the Top 10 on the Billboard chart in the last decade. Casting Crowns’ self-titled debut album was certified Platinum earlier this year and now their latest Gold record achievement pushes the band’s career sales to close to 2 million units. <><

Some disappointing news concerning self-professed
Christian and now solo artist SCOTT STAPP, who just released his first solo CD, “The Great Divide.” MTV.com is reporting that the former CREED frontman was involved in a drunken brawl with members of alternative band 311 on Thanksgiving Day (mtv.com/news). Witnesses say Stapp was intoxicated and instigated the fight with inappropriate comments to one of the band members’ wives in a Baltimore hotel lounge. 311’s drummer, Chad Sexton, told the Associated Press that, "All of a sudden, he ‘clocked’ me in the left side of my face, then a huge fight broke out." In another unrelated incident, Stapp allegedly showed up drunk at a recent SpikeTV taping of the
cable network’s show, "Casino Cinema," and insulted the program’s hosts and crew members. Stapp is a “Guest of the Week” and plays a few hands of 5-Card Stud Poker in the episode, which airs this Tuesday (Dec. 6th.) at 8:00 PM CST on SpikeTV. <><
MTV has
announced it will use SUPERCHIC[K]’s song, "Anthem," from the band’s “Beauty From Pain” album as the theme song for the new season of “Real World – Road Rules Challenge: The Gauntlet.” Also NBC-TV says the “Peacock Network” will feature the band’s tune, “It's On” (from the same album), in its promotional campaign for the 2006 Winter Olympics scheduled in Turin, Italy in February. <><
