This is the December 12, 2005 edition of Glory2Glory Christian Music E-zine!, a contemporary Christian music and modern Worship newsletter distributed to gospel music enthusiasts around the world.

IN THE NEWS:
"The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" debuted as last weekend's top movie, grossing over $67 million, according to Disney Studio estimates.  And according to Variety magazine, the film adapted from C.S. Lewis' tale of enchantment, epic battles and talking animals enjoyed the second-highest weekend gross ever for the month of December, behind only that of "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" (debuting in 2003 at $72.6 million.)  Many of Nashville’s Christian music artists supported the film at a special screening and live national radio broadcast, including REBECCA ST. JAMES, JARS OF CLAY, AUDIO ADRENALINE, ZOEGIRL, BUILDING 429, WARREN BARFILED, NICOLE C. MULLEN and DON MOEN.

Also The Sunday Times of Great Britain is reporting that a new piece of evidence has been discovered that reveals C.S. Lewis’ children's story tells a Christian message.  The newspaper ran an article last weekend reporting that a letter written by the famed author in 1961, addressed to a child fan, was recently uncovered.  According to the literary adviser to the Lewis estate, Walter Hooper, the letter clearly states that "the whole Narnian story is about Christ."  For many years Christians and secularists have been debating Lewis' message in the popular children's series with some churches citing allusions to the gospel and Jesus while others simply regarding “The Chronicles of Narnia” as just an adventure story. <><

BARLOWGIRL was featured on NBC-TV’s Today Show this morning (Monday, Dec. 12th) in a story focusing on Christian music’s impact on pop culture.  NBC News sent a film crew to Nashville last week to film the sister trio at a “meet & greet” and their sold-out concert at David Lipscomb University.  Also the news crew followed Rebecca, Alyssa and Lauren Barlow while they were shopping and then conducted an in-depth interview with the sisters. <><

PILLAR’s guitarist Noah Henson recently underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL.   According to the band’s newsletter, Henson needs financial help for his recovery, since he did not have any personal health insurance to cover over $30,000.00 in expenses from surgery and consequent rehab.  To make a donation to help cover these medical expenses, please make checks or money orders payable to “Noah Henson” and mail to: Pillar/Helping Noah, P.O. Box 700603, Tulsa, OK 74170. <><

CASTING CROWNS has received its first GRAMMY nomination for “Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album” for their recent Gold-certified project, “Lifesong.”  Their sophomore album debuted last summer at No. 9 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart, an accomplishment only achieved by one other Christian artist in the last decade who also broke the Top 10 on the Billboard chart without a “crossover” radio hit.  In November, the seven-piece band, led by Atlanta youth pastor Mark Hall, was a “Favorite Artist” nominee in the “Contemporary Inspirational” category at the 33rd Annual American Music Awards.

Casting Crowns, which was originally formed as a youth ministry worship band, has sold almost 2 million albums and was named the Gospel Music Associations’ 2005 “Group of the Year.”  The band kicks off the spring 2006 leg of its “Lifesong Tour” on Feb. 9th. with special guests NICHOLE NORDEMAN and JOSH BATES.  The 48th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 8th, in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS-TV from 7:00-10:30 PM (CST).  Also nominated in the same category with Casting Crowns’ “Lifesong” is “All I Really Want For Christmas” – STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN, “Redemption Songs” – JARS OF CLAY, “Hymns” – OUT OF EDEN, “Healing Rain” – MICHAEL W. SMITH and “Live Wire” – THIRD DAY. <><

SOUNDBYTES:
STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN and his family will appear on “CBS Sunday Morning” on Christmas morning at 8:30 AM (CST).  The segment features interviews with the singer’s family, a behind the scenes look at their home life and touching stories from families impacted by Chapman’s “Shaohannah’s Hope Foundation.” <>< Christian rockers DAY OF FIRE has received its first career GRAMMY nomination for their debut album.  The band’s freshman project has produced two No. 1 radio singles as well as an additional two Top 10 radio singles. <>< The CLAY CROSSE family recently traveled to Beijing, China to adopt a baby girl.  According to Crosse’s wife, Renee, Sophie May Jinghong Crosse “is an absolute joy and blessing.” <>< New artist MAT KEARNEY will make his first national television appearance on “Last Call with Carson Daly” on Tuesday (Jan. 13th.)  The show airs on NBC-TV at 11:35 PM (CST). <><
