Nominations were announced today (Feb. 6) for the 37th Annual GMA Music Awards, formerly called the Dove Awards. Several new faces lead a field that features a strong showing by praise & worship and pop/rock artists. Artist of the Year nominee CHRIS TOMLIN received nine nominations while Group of the Year nominee DAVID CROWDER*BAND garnered six nominations. Female Vocalists of the Year nominees NATALIE GRANT and JOY WILLIAMS and rockers RELIENT K all received six nominations each. SWITCHFOOT, JEREMY CAMP, CASTING CROWNS, THE CRABB FAMILY, ISRAEL HOUGHTON, BARLOWGIRL and THIRD DAY rounded out the field of artists with five nods a piece.
The GMA Music Awards show will be held on April 5th at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville and
televised in national syndication April 15 to May 21, 2006. <><
