IN THE NEWS:
The battle with alcohol addiction continues for former CREED frontman and now solo artist SCOTT STAPP. An intoxicated Stapp was arrested Saturday (Feb. 11th.) at Los Angeles International Airport for “being under the influence,” according to an Airport Police representative. The singer was just married last Friday in Miami to Jaclyn Nesheiwat, who is a former Miss New York and the director of public affairs for Stapp’s non-profit foundation. Last Thanksgiving day Stapp was involved in an drunken altercation with members of a mainstream alternative rock band at a hotel bar in Baltimore. In December the singer showed up intoxicated for a taping of a Spike TV Network program and made some on-air off-color remarks to a female host.
In an interview with CCM Magazine late last year after releasing his first solo album, “The Great Divide,” Stapp said he had stepped back into the arena of faith in Jesus Christ. "When I was a kid, and even as a young adult, I
was always asking God to prove Himself to me," Stapp told CCM. "After seeing ‘The Passion of the Christ’ it was kind of like God saying to me, 'I'm here, what further proof do you need?' I finally got to that place where I looked up to God and said, 'You can have me; You can have everything I've got, if You'll just take me back.'"
Please remember to pray for Scott Stapp that God will bridge the “great divide” once again for this talented young man. <><
DELIRIOUS? recently joined evangelist and best-selling author Joyce Meyer for one of the largest Christian events ever to take place in India. Over 1.2 million people in the predominantly Hindu nation attended the four-day gathering where the modern worship band played many songs from their new album, “The Mission Bell.” More than 400,000 people were present each day with hundreds of thousands making commitments of faith in Christ. According to Meyer, “The incredible gift that Delirious? brings to an event
like this is immeasurable. The ability to go from completely rockin’ down the house to absolute pure worship is awesome!” The famed television host added, “It was an honor to share the stage with them and (I) look forward to doing more in the future! India will never ever be the same!” <><
Platinum-selling Christian music group CASTING CROWNS won their first GRAMMY award last Wednesday (Feb.
8th.) The Atlanta-based worship band received a trophy for “Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album” for “Lifesong” at the 48th. annual awards ceremony at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. Lead singer and Youth Pastor, Mark Hall, commented to reporters after the awards show, “We were honored to represent Jesus and Christian music at the Grammy’s this year along with the other nominees in our category. God is showing through us that He can do whatever He wants with whomever He chooses. Our prayer is that we pointed to Jesus tonight and this award is placed at His feet.”
“Lifesong” debuted last summer at no. 9 on Billboard's Top 200 mainstream albums chart. Also Casting Crowns enjoyed a record-breaking headlining tour last fall, attended by nearly 150,000 concert-goers with over 14,000 salvations and decisions in 38 cities. The band, along with NICHOLE NORDEMAN, new artist JOSH BATES and youth evangelist TONY NOLAN, kicked off the spring ’06 leg of “The Lifesong Tour” the night after the GRAMMYs (Feb. 9th.) in Monroe, Louisiana. Almost 3,700 attended the first date of their 46 city
