This is the April 17, 2006 edition of Glory2Glory Christian Music E-zine!, a contemporary Christian music and modern Worship newsletter distributed to gospel music enthusiasts around the world.
SOUNDBYTES:
Two Christian albums have hit the Top 5 in Billboard’s “Top Heatseekers” chart this week. HILLSONG’s “United We Stand” and SANCTUS REAL’s “Face of Love” comprise nos. 4 and 5, respectively, on this album chart of “bestselling titles by new and developing artists.” <><
STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN will embark on a 20-city international tour on April 24th. Chapman, who recently won his 50th career GMA Music Award (Dove), departs for concert stops in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the Philippines, Hong Kong, South Korea and China, where the singer and his family will spend a month working in Beijing orphanages. <><
Speaking of the 37th Annual GMA Music Awards, the broadcast is airing in national syndication through May 21st. Central City Productions of Chicago is syndicating the awards show through network affiliates and independent stations to at least 70 percent of U.S. television households. To see CHRIS TOMLIN pick up his five Dove Awards and the other 36 Christian artists who also won, check this list of stations airing the GMA Music Awards. <><
JEREMY CAMP was recently named the top songwriter at the 28th Annual ASCAP Christian Music Awards. For the second year in a row, Camp was named Songwriter of the Year for writing his hit singles “This Man” and “Take You Back” (also named ASCAP’s Song of the Year.) <><
Also singer/songwriter Jeremy Camp and his wife Adrienne Liesching (formerly of the Christian rockers THE BENJAMIN GATE) are brand new parents! The couple’s second daughter, Arianne Mae, was born early April 5th., weighing 5 lbs 13 oz. Arianne joins big sister, Isabella Rose, who is now 18 months old. <><
PASSION is releasing a two-disc DVD set in June that will feature seven hours of live footage from the Passion ’06 student conference held in Nashville earlier this year. Also the date and host city for the next conference has been set. Passion ‘07 will be held January 1st-4th in Atlanta and will again feature lead worshipers Chris Tomlin, DAVID CROWDER*BAND, CHARLIE HALL and MATT REDMAN, as well as speakers Louie Giglio, John Piper and Beth Moore. For more info or to register, visit www.268generation.com. <><
The WNBA's new “Have You Seen Her?” television advertising campaign will feature music from teen Christian singers and Disney Channel actresses ALY AND AJ. The women’s basketball league's 10th Anniversary season will use the sibling’s song “Rush” in 30 and 60-second spots airing during nationally televised NBA and WNBA games on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, TNT and NBA-TV. <><
Columbia Records is releasing a two-disc set of previously unreleased recordings from the Man in Black. The late JOHNNY CASH recorded the cuts way back in the '70s but never commercially released the songs, stashing the master tapes away at his headquarters in Hendersonville, Tennessee. The box marked "Personal File" (also the title of the upcoming album) was found recently, so the stripped-down, 49-song set consisting of “intimate performances” will now be released on May 23rd. The second CD in the set features 24 inspirational songs, including eleven originals written by Cash, who was a self-proclaimed Christian, actor and film producer. <><
