Multi-Platinum band MERCYME is celebrating the release of their new album, Coming Up To Breathe, with its first single “So Long Self,” which has been the most–added single at mainstream Adult Contemporary radio for two weeks in a row. The hit single is already in the Top 30 in only 14 days on both Billboard’s and Radio & Records’ AC charts. The Texas quintet’s fifth project so far, Coming Up To Breathe debuted last week on Billboard’s Top 200 chart at No. 13, selling over 58,000 units in its’ first week of release. The new CD has bested the previous record set by the band’s 2004 release, Undone, which
sold 56,000 copies in its’ first week. Also Coming Up To Breathe entered at No. 1 on Billboard’s Contemporary Christian chart and is the No. 25 CD on i-tunes’ Today’s Top 100 Albums list.
"We have certainly felt a ground swell of support for this band and their new project on every level," according to INO Records president Jeff Moseley. "Radio, media and retail have really come to the table to set this record up in a huge way, and for that we are truly grateful." Adding to the excitement, MercyMe was featured
on the front page of the New York Times “Arts” section after the newspaper sent a photographer to the band’s in-store event at a Houston-area Wal-Mart, where Bart Millard and the boys performed an acoustic set for over 3,000 fans and signed copies of their new album for over two hours! MercyMe is set to tour across the nation this fall with AUDIO ADRENALINE and new artist PHIL WICKHAM, stopping in cities including Louisville, KY; Albuquerque, NM; Indianapolis, IN; Houston, TX and Shreveport, LA (produced by glory2glory productions!) <><
Two years after SIXPENCE NONE THE RICHER officially called it quits, the band’s former lead singer
LEIGH NASH is preparing to release her first solo album. After topping the charts with cross-over pop hits such as "Kiss Me" and "There She Goes", Nash will now try to hit No. 1 with Blue On Blue, which will hit store shelves on August 15th. on One Son Records, her imprint label through Nettwerk Productions. Produced by Pierre Marchand (producer of Sarah McLachlan and Rufus Wainwright), the new project is being called a “sweetly understated collection of musings on love and motherhood.” Nash and Marchand co-wrote two of the CD’s songs together, the album’s opener "All Along The Wall" and "Between The Lines." Nash will also spend the summer months gearing up for a North American tour this fall with JARS OF
CLAY. <><

A Kentucky minister/musician’s recent album is doing some great things for ill children in his home state. JEFF GREENE’s project recorded for babies, Child of Wonder, is being used by the University of Kentucky’s Children's Hospital as musical therapy for their young patients. Also Kosair's Children's Hospital in Louisville is wanting
to use this same therapy, so local businesses are purchasing Greene’s CDs and donating them to the hospital. Between both of these facilities, several thousand sick children pass through every year and Greene wants every child to have a free CD. Greene is currently in negotiations with the Markey Cancer Center at the University of Kentucky to have his “serenity” album, Heaven Scent, used as musical therapy for their adult patients. The "final" (we've heard that before!?) two albums of previously unreleased music from JOHNNY CASH is being assembled, ed music from JOHNNY CASH is being assembled, with the first recording being readied for release this summer. American V: A Hundred Highways features a dozen songs from sessions recorded with the Man in Black’s longtime producer and friend Rick Rubin in his studio in Los Angeles and at
Cash's cabin in Nashville. A very ill Johnny Cash wrapped up recording the last of 60 tracks only a week before the country and gospel legend died at the age of 71 in September 2003. According to Rubin, when Cash’s wife, June Carter, died in May 2003, a sense of urgency seemed to grip the gravel-voiced, self-professed Christian. Rubin recalls, "Once June passed, Johnny had the will to live long enough to record, but that was pretty much all. A day after June passed, he said, 'I need to have something to do every day…otherwise, there's no reason for me to be here.' " Cash and Rubin’s fifth collaboration will include a prayerful version of Larry Gatlin's “Help Me”, the traditional gospel tune “God's Gonna Cut You Down” and Gordon Lightfoot’s “If You
Could Read My Mind”. The album also features the final song Johnny Cash wrote, “The 309”, a poignant and amusing train yarn.
Cash could only record when his health would permit, so Rubin says he kept a sound engineer and guitarist on standby around the clock so the songs were “captured in the moment rather than sculpted” with instrumentation built under the vocal tracks later. American V: A Hundred Highways is scheduled to be released on July 4th. on American Recordings/Lost Highway
Records. <><
