Chicago native MATTHEW WEST recently performed the national anthem at a Chicago Cubs baseball game. A capacity crowd of more than 40,000 people at Wrigley Field sang along with the once-aspiring baseball player turned musician. <>< STELLER KART has made it to the big screen! The Phoenix, Arizona band's music video, "Life Is Good (Eternal Life Is Better)", is featured in the new Lindsay Lohan comedy, Just My Luck, which, BTW, was filmed entirely in New Orleans and south Louisiana (see the video at myspace.com/stellarkart). <>< Pioneering contemporary Christian trio FIRST CALL has reunited to record a new CD. Original members Bonnie Keen, Marty McCall and Melodie Tunney has released Rejoice: An A Cappella Hymns Collection and will also star in a PAX-TV special filmed in the Colorado Rocky Mountains that is set to air on June 18th. <>< MERCYME sold almost 30,000 CDs and cassettes in the 3rd week of release of their latest album, Coming Up to Breathe, which keeps them in the top 50 on Billboard magazine’s Top 200 chart. Also the band’s first radio single, “So Long Self”, rose
to No. 21 on Radio & Records’ mainstream Adult Contemporary chart this week. The single from Rice’s Amusing album is at No. 12 this week, beating out secular heavyweights such as Sheryl Crow, Santana and Mariah Carey. <>< MICHAEL SWEET has announced he is releasing a hymns album on August 1st. on Integrity Records. STRYPER’s founding member also plans a US solo tour of churches, theatres and coffee houses this fall. <>< Christian hip hop artist JOHN REUBEN has shot a pilot for a new TV sitcom called The Professional Rapper and fans can view the show online at www.YouTube.com. If the reality show pilot gets enough positive feedback, it could become a new television program, but Reuben warns fans to only leave good comments: “Operators are on duty 24 hours a day to receive flattery, blind optimism and all forms of sucking up!” <>< PILLAR is
working on their forthcoming October ’06 album release in between concert dates on The Warriors Tour headlined by P.O.D. The hard-rockin’ band recorded two new tracks, “The Reckoning” and “Autumn”, on an off day last week. <><
