In good news this week, Margaret Becker signs with Cross-Driven Records; Steven Curtis Chapman adopts second daughter from China; ChristianBEATS Music Awards release nominations; Salvador gets back to their Hispanic roots; artist birthdays & album releases; and "Actual Newspaper Headlines."

Blessings to all of our subscribers!

I appreciate everyone who has subscribed to our newsletter,
Glory2Glory.  From its humble beginnings less than a year ago as a music news "link" on a radio station website, this e-zine now has almost 40 subscribers from over a dozen states.  It is sad to report that one of these subscribers passed away last week in New York.  Raymond Harper with Top-A-Da World Ma Music and the Ray Harper & The Reign With Him Ensemble of Brooklyn died from complications four days after surgery.  According to a spokesperson with his music company, Ray's last sentiment was to thank everyone who supported his music and "that the vision will not die, but live."  His latest album is scheduled to be released posthumously in just a few weeks.  Condolences go out to Ray's family and friends.--Chuck Halley, publisher

In the news this week--
Margaret Becker has been signed to a multi-year contract with Cross-Driven Records with her first release, Just Come In, set to be released on July 1st. "We're extremely excited about working with Margaret," according to Ryan Howard, president of Here To Him Music Group, the parent company of Cross Driven Records.  "Not only does she possess immense credibility and integrity, she adds a tremendous amount of artistic cache to our imprint," Howard adds.  The new album features five brand new songs and six of Becker's favorites from the past decade.  The project is the Dove Award-winning and Grammy nominated artist's thirteenth CD and her first solo recording in almost four years.

Becker explained in a press release just how the new album came to fruition:  "As a result of countless requests over the years, I gathered some 'classic' songs, paired them with some new material, and recorded Just Come In.  It represents the way I've been performing for the past few years -- scaled down and acoustic."  Becker added, "It all started out as an 'underground' offering, a simple gesture of thanks to all the people who have been so faithful to my music and myself over the years.  I gave a copy to Glenda McNalley, my manager and business partner, who in turn gave it to Jay Hall, manager of the worship band Among Thorns who also records for a Here To Him Music imprint.  Jay played the CD for Dennis Disney, an old friend of mine who heads up Here To Him's label operations in Nashville.  Dennis, Jay, and Glenda worked out the details to release it properly through Here To Him."

Steven Curtis Chapman and his wife Mary Beth have adopted a second daughter from China. Stevey Joy Ru joins new sister Shaohannah who the Chapmans also adopted from China in 2000.  After their first adoption, Steven Curtis and Mary Beth founded the "Shaohannah's Hope" organization which provides information and assistance to other families who would like to adopt children, but may not be financially able to.  For more info, visit

Third Day has expanded its affiliation with Chevrolet with the automaker's products now "the official vehicle" of the band and kicks a new advertising campaign capitalizing on the slogan, "Third Day, Chevrolet, Rocks!"  Also this past weekend Third Day headlined the "Chevrolet School's Out 2003" concert at Smokies Park in Kodak, Tennessee (just outside of Knoxville.)  According to Jonathan Thomas of the band's management company, Creative Trust, "The announcement of Third Day and Chevrolet moving forward is exciting" and "continues to show that the faith-based community is a large and diverse group who enjoy a wide range of activities including music and entertainment."

The Austin, Texas-based band Salvador will release their first Spanish-language CD on August 12th.  "Con Poder" will feature ten new contemporary and inspirational songs demonstrating the band's unique Latin rhythms and sounds that fans got a small taste of on their first two albums, "Salvador" and "Into Motion."  Starting out as a Praise & Worship band at their parents Pentecostal church in Texas, their new project will return to their Hispanic roots with traditional hymns like "Con Poder" ("With Power"), "Montaña" ("Mountain"), and "Un Día a la Vez" ("One Day At A Time").  Salvador was nominated this year for Best Latin Christian Album at the Billboard Latin Conference  and will join Jaci Velasquez on her forty-city tour this fall.
