VERSE OF THE
WEEK:
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." - Revelation 21:4
SOUNDBYTES:
REBECCA ST. JAMES has another Gold Record in her career. The RIAA has certified her GRAMMY® Award-winning album, Pray, with gold status, having sold over 500,000 units to date. <>< MERCYME’s Coming Up to Breathe Tour is proving to be the biggest Christian tour of
fall 2006, with over half of their shows already selling out, including Houston (6,137); San Antonio (4,218); Lynchburg, Virginia (5,499); Plymouth, Michigan (2,783); Chicago (3,145); and Bossier City, Louisiana (5,816) (produced by glory2glory productions!) The tour also features the final concert appearances by AUDIO ADRENALINE and newcomer PHIL WICKHAM. <>< Major League Baseball’s World Series is featuring some contemporary Christian music in its television coverage, as Fox Sports is using "Don't Wait For Daylight" by NEEDTOBREATHE on their TV promos. Also Comerica Park is playing MERCYME’s “Last One Standing” when Detroit Tigers pitcher Todd Jones takes the mound (the song was written specifically for Jones by BART MILLARD and the closer’s favorite band!) <>< Another posthumous
compilation album from Country and gospel legend JOHNNY CASH is being released on November 21, a 20-song set entitled The Legend of Johnny Cash Vol. II (Universal Music). The new project follows up last year's collection, which so far has sold more than 2 million copies, and includes gospel favorites “Daddy Sang Bass” and “In the Sweet By and By.” <>< The New Braunfels, Texas foursome DALTON is opening for SONICFLOOD on their 54-city “This Generation Tour” this fall. Led by brothers Spencer and Preston Dalton, the band’s debut album Taste the Sky has received rave reviews from ChristianityToday.com and Renown Magazine and is described as a “rockin’ worshipful album” and a project with “melodic power pop with infectious hook-laden singles.” <>< New Line Cinema’s major
theatrical film The Nativity Story opens worldwide on December 1 with Word Records releasing The Nativity Story: Sacred Songs, a collection of music inspired by the highly-anticipated movie, on October 31. The CD features 13 songs from Christian and Country artists including JACI VALASQUEZ ("O Come, O Come Emmanuel"), AMY GRANT ("Breath of Heaven [Mary's Song]"), MARK SCHULTZ ("The First Noel") and BARLOWGIRL ("For the Beauty of the Earth [Nativity Version]"). <>< Congratulations to PILLAR’s frontman Rob Beckley and his wife Linda. The couple recently celebrated the birth of their first child, son Hudson Cash Beckley. <>< Christian rapper JOHN REUBEN recently missed a date in Montana on the “Live Love Tour” (featuring headliner SUPERCHIC[K]) due to van problems
but also missed possibly being badly injured or killed at the concert. According to Reuben’s My Space blog, “a (very heavy) lighting truss fell down and landed directly in the middle of the stage, which is exactly where (we) would have been standing if our vans had not broken down!” <><
