IN THE NEWS--
KIRK FRANKLIN and TOBYMAC are teaming up with the E.R.A.C.E. Foundation ("Eliminating Racism and Creating Equality") for their "I Have a Dream--The Tour" coming to over 15 markets this fall.  According to Franklin, "tobyMac and I are both very uncomfortable with the color barrier that exists between Christians.  It's almost an oxymoron to be Christian yet separated by race."   The Grammy-winning artist/producer adds, "We want this tour to be a seed-planter. God willing, it will be the beginning of something greater."  <><

Praise & Worship artist DENNIS JERNIGAN has inked a deal with TV network FamilyNet to shoot a series of weekly programs beginning in January 2004.  Also Dennis and his family will tape a Christmas show to air in December featuring the Jernigans singing their favorite Christmas songs and sharing stories and traditions from the holiday season.  Music from "The Jernigan Family Christmas" TV special will be available in October on CD through
www.dennisjernigan.com. <><

DAILY PLANET lead singer Jesse Butterworth has suffered a serious leg injury during a show in California.  To send Butterworth a card or donation to help with his upcoming medical expenses for surgery on his broken ankle, write to:  Jesse Butterworth, c/o Betsy Luoto, 13900 NW Fir Crest Rd., McMinnville, OR 97128.  Also Planet band mate Bobby Reinsch has quit the group "to spend more time with his wife and baby girl," according to the band's website.  You can send Reinsch your best wishes at bobby@.... <><

SANCTUS REAL has re-released to retail outlets their debut album "Say It Loud" and will include with each purchase a new 5-Song Bonus CD entitled "Sverigeep" ("Swedish EP".) THE ROCK 'N' ROLL WORSHIP CIRCUS has launched an unique web site called "Cirque de Plastique."  The website is only accessible when buying the band's album "A Beautiful Glow," which is available in stores August 26th.  The CD is encrypted to access their web site when played in your PC.  According to a press release, the site features "a changing library of MP3 songs that were originally B-sides from the Worship Circus' independent projects as well as other songs not included on their Vertical Records project."  Also free tab sheets and chord charts of songs from the album are accessible, as well as worship leader resources and other info about the band. <><

The frontman for FUSEBOX, REBECCA ST. JAMES' touring band, has just been cast in the new rock opera "!Hero."  Billy Buchanan will play the character "Kai" who is based on Caiaphas, the high priest in the Bible who was the leader of the Sanhedrin.  !Hero is a play based on the story of Jesus, but is set in modern times where Christ is born in Bethelehem, PA and raised in Brooklyn, NY.  Other casts members include MICHAEL TAIT from DCTALK, REBECCA ST. JAMES, and MARK STUART from AUDIO ADRENALINE.  <><

SOUNDBYTES: PAX217 drummer Chris Duran, known as "Tito," has left the band.  A new percussionist should be named before the group heads out on their "Gone 'Til November" tour next month. <><  Gibson Guitars has given SALVADORE frontman Nic Gonzales a rare Chet Atkins SST 12-string electric acoustic guitar worth $10,000.  The special guitar has only been created twice in the past five years with the other instrument owned by Country star Travis Tritt. <>< PLUMB (aka Tiffany Arbuckle Lee) recently shot the video for her latest single, "Boy's Don't Cry," in Montreal.  Also "Real," the first single from the album "Beautiful Lumps of Coal," is at #1 on several radio charts in Asia (you can see the "Real" video at www.plumbinfo.com.) <>< The VERY secular Penn State University is sponsoring the school's first Christian music concert on September 13th.  "The Rock Invasion" is a FREE event on the school's Student Center HUB Lawn and will feature SKILLET, LUNA HALO, and JEFF DEYO. <><
