IN THE NEWS--
ACCORDING TO JOHN, who had a couple of big hits with "Justified" and "The Song of Jabez" on Christian radio, has called it quits. Frontman John Waller will soon plant a new church in Colorado and will be leading praise and worship. The band had been expecting to sign a major record deal for several months, but a contract never materialized. A2J will perform their "farewell concert" at the "Christian Music Festival" in Peachtree City, Georgia on October 2nd. with a new eight-song EP to be offered on their website. <><
The members of SONICFLOOD are still recuperating from their "adventure" in Mexico a few weeks ago. All of the band members became ill after concerts in Mexico City and lead singer Rick Heil ended up in the hospital receiving a blood transfusion. Also Heil's wife CeCe is expecting their second child any day now and the proud parents have already named their "son" Jordan, who will join two-year-old sister Jaedyn.
In other band news, bassist Thomas O. Michael has written two Bible studies based on the songs "Shelter" and "Famous One" from their new CD, "Cry Holy." Fans and musicians can download the studies and the songs for free along with the chord charts for each song at: http://www.buzzplant.com/sonicflood/sf_devotional.html <><
PASSION'S latest album, "Sacred Revolution--OneDay03," has hit store shelves. The project was recorded in front of over 20,000 students and adults who gathered for "OneDay03" at a private 400-acre ranch near Sherman, Texas during Memorial Day Weekend to worship God and pray for spiritual awakening. Students from all 50 states and several nations including Australia, Japan, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and Puerto Rico assembled for "intercession, celebration, confession, reflection, adoration, and repentance." Speakers included Passion founder and director Louie Giglio; authors Beth Moore and Joshua Harris; actor Kirk Cameron; and former captive, missionary Heather Mercer.
Worship was led by lead worshippers CHRIS TOMLIN, MATT REDMAN, and CHARLIE HALL who were joined on stage by WATERMARK, SHANE & SHANE, and DAVID CROWDER BAND. Attendee Beth Dixon, a 24-year-old student from the University of Wisconsin, said she really enjoyed hearing Heather Mercer talk about missionary work: "It is exciting for me to meet with God; that is why I am here. OneDay echoes what is beating in my heart. I really understand the heartbeat of (Louie Giglio's) Passion for uniting college students." <><
NICHOLE NORDEMAN, who recently became a new mommy, has been featured at many of this year's Women of Faith conferences around the US. The talented singer and songwriter has performed in front of over 30,000 attendees this summer and plans to continue with Women of Faith in the fall of 2004. <><
NEWSBOYS and JUMP5 are featured on Disney's new "Extreme Skate Adventure" video game. According to the game's manufacturer, kids are immersed in a skateboarding adventure through the worlds of "The Lion King," "Tarzan," and "Toy Story 2." The video game is available for PlayStation2, Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, and Game Boy Advance.
