SKILLET is promoting their latest album by asking fans to celebrate the release with a party. "Collide" will hit stores on November 18th. and Skillet fans can order special "Panhead Party" packs with 1 CD, 2 band T-shirts, an autographed photo, stickers, and instructions for the party all for $25. JARS OF CLAY will release its sixth studio project this week. "Who We Are Instead" features 12 all new songs that, according to the band, marks a return to the "acoustic, soulful sound that launched Jars of Clay's musical journey nearly 10 years ago." Adding her trademark vocals to album cuts "Amazing Grace" and "Jealous Kid" will be CCM legend ASHLEY CLEVELAND. The CD will also offer a 13th. tune that is a remake of "Lonely People" recorded in the '70s by pop group AMERICA. <><
American soldiers in Iraq are listening to donated Contemporary Christian Music CDs through the efforts of Captain Mark Johnston and his wife Julia. The couple co-host a two-hour broadcast called "Praise Patrol" that is heard weekly all around the world on the American Forces Network. Mark, who is AFN's chaplain, and Julia (with the help of the Gospel Music Association) solicited record labels to donate more than 1,500 CDs to our American troops in Iraq. <><
The controversial new film about the last eight hours of Jesus Christ's life still has not found a distributor. Directed by renowned actor and devout Christian MEL GIBSON, "The Passion" has now been officially renamed "The Passion of Christ." The movie, which stars Jim Caviezel as Jesus, is purported to be the most emotional and graphic representation of Christ's death that has ever been filmed (I recently watched the film's 4 minute featurette on themoviebox.net website and I wept the entire time-Chuck.) Gibson's goal is to release the movie to U.S. theaters on February 25, 2004 (to view the theatrical trailers and featurette, visit www.themoviebox.net/movies/2004/NOPQR/Passion_The/trailer-page.html .
SOUNDBYTES: Country singer and television actor BILLY RAY CYRUS has released a song written by Dove Award-nominated singer/songwriter BEBO NORMAN. "Tip of My Heart" features background vocals by '80s pop star RICHARD MARX and is Cyrus' first single from his debut gospel album "The Other Side." <>< Artist and producer (and soon to be author) CHARLIE PEACOCK is now booking concerts for spring 2004. This is Peacock's first major tour in ten years and he will also be promoting his new book, "New Way to Be Human: A Provocative Look at What It Means to Follow Jesus," at the shows that kick off in March. The events will include stories from the new book and performances of his best known songs such as "In the Light" and Every Heartbeat." <>< DARLENE ZSCHECH of HILLSONGS AUSTRALIA joined members of the Hillsong Church in Bali for services to remember those who died in the October 2002 Bali bombing. Over 100 Australians perished in the horrible incident when a car bomb was set off in front of two local clubs there. <><
