IN THE NEWS--
We reported in last week's issue of Glory2Glory that the controversial film "The Passion of Christ" could not find a distributor in the U.S. But "Braveheart" and "The Patriot" star and director Mel Gibson finally signed a distribution deal late last week with Newmarket Films. Gibson produced the upcoming movie about the last twelve hours of Jesus Christ's life that has drawn complaints from some Jewish leaders, who say it suggests Jews were responsible for Christ's death. Gibson spent $30 million to produce the movie, which he has defended as being faithful to the Gospels. The Vatican recently endorsed the film and told priests around the world to "contemplate" the movie. "The Passion of Christ" will debut in American theatres on Ash Wednesday in 2004. <><
KRISTY STARLING, who was discovered by NBC's Today Show, appeared again on the popular morning news show on Monday as a judge for the vocal competition on "Today's Superstar." Starling was chosen from over 4,000 entries last fall and landed the second place spot in the competition. <><
