Legendary songwriter and producer CHARLIE PEACOCK will release Full Circle: A Celebration of Songs And Friends on February 24th. His first new album in several years features new recordings of many of his hit songs with special guests including AMY GRANT, TOBYMAC, SIXPENCE NONE THE RICHER, SARA GROVES, OUT OF THE GREY, MERCYME’s Bart Millard, and SWITCHFOOT.
Peacock started his musical career two decades ago as an alternative artist on Island Records (with U2 as a label mate) but he soon converted to Christianity and wrote hits for Grant ("Every Heartbeat") and dcTalk ("In The Light.") He also started his own label, re: think, signing Switchfoot as his flagship act, and has produced projects for artists including AVALON and AUDIO ADRENALINE. <><
THE ELMS have lost an old bandmate and added a new addition to their lineup this week. Bassist Keith Miller has left after performing with the band since the release of their debut album in 2001. The Elms have already announced a replacement, 23 year-old Nathan Bennett formerly of the rock band A.M. Drive, while Miller has enrolled at a university in Louisville, Kentucky to major in communications. Bennett joins band members (and brothers) Owen and Chris Thomas and Thom Daugherty. The new bass player will perform for the first time as an Elm in Mt. Vernon, Ohio on February 13th.
The band was formed in 1997 by the two Thomas brothers and went through several lineups before changing its name to The Elms (named after a restored coach house owned by the Thomas brother’s uncle in England.) The Elms released The Big Surprise in 2001 and consequently received two Dove award nominations.<><
A new album series from the same artists and producers of the three City On A Hill projects will present a musical depiction of Jesus Christ’s birth, life, and passion. The Christ: A Trilogy will attempt to shed light on the character and sacrifice of Jesus with three different CDs that all feature previously recorded City On A Hill songs and original music. The three installments will include new and old tracks by THIRD DAY, JARS OF CLAY, SIXPENCE NONE THE RICHER, BEBO NORMAN, CAEDMON’S CALL, PAUL COLMAN TRIO, and JENNIFER KNAPP. The first album is set to be released on March 9th. with subsequent CDs on store shelves in fall 2004 and spring 2005.<><
In the “Whatever Happened to CHASING FURIES?” category, the former lead singer of the band that released only one critically acclaimed CD before breaking up, Sarah MacIntosh, has released a modern Worship album. The new project, Fill Me, is available on her church's website at www.horizoninternational.net. The Horizon Christian Fellowship Church in San Diego, California is also pastored by the singer’s father, Mike MacIntosh.<><
SOUNDBYTES: MICHAEL W. SMITH will release a Worship Box Set on March 9th. that includes his three best-selling worship projects—Worship, the Worship DVD, and Worship Again.<>< RUSS TAFF is leaving the GAITHER VOCAL BAND at the end of January to return to a solo career.<>< Bobby Duran has quit the alternative Christian band PAX217. CHUCK’S CHUCKLES:
How (Not) to Speak English Properly--
1. Verbs HAS to agree with their subjects.
2. Prepositions are not words to end sentences with.
3. And don't start a sentence with a conjunction.
4. Avoid cliches like the plague. (They're old hat)
5. Be more or less specific.
6. Parenthetical remarks (however relevant) are (usually) unnecessary.
7. No sentence fragments.
8. Contractions aren't necessary and shouldn't be used.
9. One should NEVER generalize.
10. Stay away from ampersands & abbreviations, etc.
11. One-word sentences? Eliminate.
12. Analogies in writing are like feathers on a snake.
13. Eliminate commas, that are, not necessary.
14. Never use a big word when a diminutive one would suffice.
15. Understatement is always the absolute best way to put forth earth-shaking ideas.
16. Go around the barn at high noon to avoid colloquialisms.
17. Even IF a mixed metaphor sings, it should be derailed.
18. Who needs rhetorical questions?
19. Exaggeration is a billion times worse than understatement.
20. Proofread carefully to see if you any words out.
