Audio A beat out RELIANT K, PETRA, crossover favorite ROBERT RANDOLPH & THE FAMILY BAND, and FRESH I.E. In the Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album category, MICHAEL W. SMITH won for his second Modern Worship project “Worship Again” over JARS OF CLAY, NEWSBOYS, THIRD DAY, and category sweetheart STACIE ORRICO. According to artist website dcTalksolo.com, the longtime rumors concerning KEVIN MAX’s divorce are now confirmed. The dcTALK bandmate and solo artist issued this statement on his message board: "The question of my marriage to Alayna and where it stands has been asked of me over and over again and I feel the need to tell you as my friends and supporters the truth of the matter…after much prayer and thought, I wanted to let you know that Alayna and I are no longer married. We both made the decision after much counseling by pastors and spiritual guidance counselors…I constantly am in awe at the grace and mercy that the Lord shows us." Please keep Kevin and Alayna in your prayers. <><
British pop/rock/worship band DELIRIOUS? has publicly endorsed the new Mel Gibson film, “The Passion of the Christ.” The movie will be released on Ash Wednesday, February 25th. and will provide a major opportunity for Christians around the world to share the story of Jesus Christ with millions who may not have not heard it. Delirious? was among a group of Christian leaders and music artists who were recently invited to preview the film. According to the band’s bass player Jon Thatcher, "The movie is graphic, hard-hitting. It brings home the truth of Jesus Christ's life. It's so easy to sanitize, water down, and make irrelevant, but hopefully this will bring it back home for everyone." Other Christian leaders who have publicly endorsed the $30 million film that stars Jim Caviezel (“The Count of Monte Cristo”) include the Reverend Billy Graham, Focus on the Family founder James Dobson, and NEWSBOYS frontman Peter Furler. <><
CECE WINANS has embarked on a twenty-five city concert tour with a five-piece band and back-up singers and will visit churches in Brooklyn, NY; Memphis, TN; Orlando, FL; Richmond, VA; New Orleans, LA; Houston, TX; and Chicago, IL. The tour will promote her latest praise and worship album "Throne Room," which debuted at number 1 on both the Billboard Gospel and Contemporary Christian Music Charts, peaked at #21 on Billboard's R&B album chart, and reached #32 on the magazine’s Pop album chart. Winans is excited about these free concerts: "This is a faith walk for me, but I believe that God is going to touch the hearts of people in the churches we visit to help us meet our budgets without selling tickets. This way the focus is on making sure that everyone can come and worship God if you already know Him, and be introduced to Him if you don't.”
Also the talented singer is currently in the studio recording a new Pop CD with producer Keith Thomas (Luther Vandross, AMY GRANT, Jessica Simpson) that releases this fall. <><
