IN THE NEWS:
SWITCHFOOT will perform their latest single, “Dare You To Move,” on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" on NBC-TV this Friday, March 12th. The song, which was featured last year in the movie “A Walk To Remember,” is now quickly becoming a fixture on mainstream radio and was the most-added song on Billboard Magazine’s “Modern Rock Radio” chart last week. “Dare You To Move” is also climbing the Christian CHR charts and Switchfoot’s 2003 album release The Beautiful Letdown is quickly approaching Platinum status (1 million units sold.) <><
CHARLIE PEACOCK is releasing Full Circle: A Celebration of Songs And Friends on March 9th. This project is his first new album in several years and will feature new recordings of some of Peacock’s hit songs sung by special guests AMY GRANT, TOBYMAC, SIXPENCE NONE THE RICHER, SARA GROVES, OUT OF THE GREY, MERCYME’s Bart Millard, and SWITCHFOOT. The legendary songwriter and producer started his musical career two decades ago as an alternative artist on Island Records (with U2 as a label mate) but he soon converted to Christianity and wrote hits for Grant ("Every Heartbeat") and dcTalk ("In The Light.") Peacock also started his own label, re: think, signing Switchfoot as its flagship act, and he has produced projects for AVALON and AUDIO ADRENALINE. <><
Modern Worship group TEN SHEKEL SHIRT is on the road this spring stopping at some major college campuses to raise money for Justice for Children International. JFCI was founded by T.S.S. frontman Lamont Hiebert after he witnessed firsthand forced child prostitution while visiting Southeast Asia several years ago. The band hopes these benefit concerts will raise awareness and funding for the prevention, rescue, and care for many of the estimated one million sexually exploited children in the region. Tour stops include University of Virginia, UC Berkeley, Pepperdine, University of Rhode Island, Georgia Tech, SMU, and Cornell University. Expenses for the tour are being raised up front so that all ticket sales and donations go directly to JFCI. For a complete tour schedule, visit www.tenshekelshirt.com or for more info on JFCI, click on www.jfci.org. <><
Dove Award nominee RANDY TRAVIS was involved in a bus accident last weekend but there were no injuries to him, his wife, or bus driver. The singer’s tour bus hit a driveway and then ran into a ditch near Lakeville in eastern Pennsylvania Sunday afternoon (March 7th.) Travis still performed that night at his scheduled concert. The former Country singer is nominated for the Gospel Music Association’s Song of the Year for "Three Wooden Crosses" as well as up for a Dove Award for Artist of the Year. <><
