This is the first time the Gospel Music Association’s annual awards presentation will be shown live in movie theaters. Grant and tobyMac will take viewers backstage during the four or five ten-minute breaks in the show to see an “up close and personal look at what's happening behind the scenes." <><
American Idol star and Atlanta native RJ HELTON is currently touring several major markets including New York, Los Angeles and Atlanta in support of his debut CD, “Real Life.” Also last season’s fourth-place finisher on the Fox Network’s hit television show performed his current single, “Even If,” on the 12th. STEREO MOTION, formerly known as PHAT CHANCE, has called it quits. What will happen to the band’s members? MEL GIBSON’s “The Passion of the Christ” is being attributed to a rise in church attendance in several areas of the U.S. According to various news reports, churches in Rochester, New York are reporting a 10% rise in attendance following the release of the controversial film. The Fox News Channel reports that in Denver, Colorado, churches are showing a steady rise in attendance, some with up to a 25% increase. And during a “Passion”-related sermon series, the Mile High City’s Saddleback Community Church reported almost 900 people made decisions to receive Christ, more than 600 new small “cell groups” were formed, and the church’s average weekly attendance rose by 3,000. Also according to a CNN report, “The Passion” caused a 21-year-old man to confess to the murder of his pregnant girlfriend. Dan Leach of Houston, Texas attributed his decision to turn himself in to authorities to seeing the film depicting the last hours of Jesus Christ’s life. Leach walked into the Fort Bend County sheriff’s office and reported killing 19-year-old Ashley Nicole Wilson and is now being held on $100,000 bond.
The Internet Movie Database website is reporting that director and producer Mel Gibson is hinting he may make a filmed account of the revolt of the Maccabees, the story behind the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. In the books of I and II Maccabees in the New Jerusalem Bible, the Maccabees led a three year war against Antiochus, a king who forced the Jews to worship false gods. This war was almost 200 years before the birth of Jesus and led to the liberation of Jerusalem. The 46-year-old star of “Braveheart,” “The Patroit,” and “Signs” says, "The story that's always fired my imagination is the Book of Maccabees. The Maccabees family stood up, and they made war. They stuck by their guns and they came out winning. It's like a western." The film maker’s new interest in Jewish history has already concerned the Jewish Anti-defamation League. JAL’s national director, Abe Foxman, said in a recent interview, "My answer would be, 'Thanks but no thanks.' The last thing we need in Jewish history is to convert our history into a western." <><
SOUNDBYTES:

President George W. Bush is also expected to attend this all-day celebration that will feature free food and entertainment. <>< Roy "Pop" Lewis, the patriarch of the world-renowned bluegrass gospel group the LEWIS FAMILY, passed away last Tuesday (March 23rd.) in Washington, Georgia at the age of 98. CHUCK’S CHUCKLES:
Top 10 Spring Cleaning Tips FOR MEN—
10. Just because something is fuzzy and the kids don't pet it, doesn't mean you should throw it out!--Wait for it to start moving, then kill it, and throw it out!
9. Remove all your old, ratty, FAVORITE shirts from the closet and hide them until your wife has done her spring cleaning, then put them back!
8. Washing and waxing your car IN THE GARAGE isn't technically considered house cleaning!
7. Buying your wife a self-cleaning oven for Mother's Day is a nice gesture, but it shouldn't be considered your share of house cleaning for the next year!
6. Just because the dog doesn't die when drinking from the toilet isn't an indication that the bathroom is clean enough!
5. Contrary to popular male opinion, using car parts as accent pieces in the living room is ALWAYS a fashion faux pas!
4. Posting a Do Not Touch, Experiment In Progress sign on the refrigerator door isn't an acceptable compromise to cleaning the fridge.
3. Naming and issuing birth certificates for each dust bunny, in hopes of cashing in on some future novelty item business windfall, isn't being particularly realistic!
2. Most people overlook the sanitizing benefits of flame throwers. Using flame retardant paint on your walls and furniture makes using one of these "crispy cleaners" both fun, and effective!
1. Start with the most important place first--your heart! Be like David and pray: "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." (Psalm 51:10, NIV)
