IN THE NEWS:
Mel Gibson's controversial film on Christ's last days broke all box office records for Italy’s first night showing. "The Passion of The Christ" took in 1.22 million euros ($1.5 million) on its first night in Italy, beating the 1.11 million first-night take for "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King." Also in Croatia, “The Passion” set a new record during its opening weekend as the island country’s most-watched movie in history with more than 84,000 moviegoers viewing the film. The previous record was held by “The Lord of the Rings” which was seen by some 77,000 people in its opening weekend.
In the United States, many Christians made “The Passion of the Christ” a part of their Easter weekend, lifting the crucifixion saga back to the top box-office spot with $17.1 million. Mel Gibson's bloody retelling of Christ's final hours raised its domestic total since opening on Ash Wednesday to $354.8 million, passing “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers'' for the No. 8 spot on the all-time domestic charts, right behind “Jurassic Park.'' “The Passion'' had been No. 1 in its first three weekends, then fell back in the pack for the next three before claiming the top spot again. According to Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations, “That's unprecedented. I've never seen that before. 'The Passion' is just rewriting box-office history.'' <><
DELIRIOUS? is becoming a mainstream sensation in Germany with their latest album, World Service.
