IN THE NEWS:

As Glory2Glory reported several weeks ago, LIFEHOUSE has officially split, as the band's bassist (and founding member) Sergio Andrade and guitarist Sean Woolstenhulme have departed.  On a fan website’s message board, frontman Jason Wade writes that “musically, Serge and I have ventured in different directions; however, I am happy to say we are on good terms.”  But in a recent magazine interview, Andrade commented that he wanted to go more in a contemporary Christian music direction.  Lifehouse began 10 years ago as a Youth Praise & Worship band called Blyss with Wade, Andrade, and drummer Rick Woolstenhulme at a Vineyard Church in Malibu, California.  Later the trio (and eventually joined by Sean Woolstenhulme) went on to record No Name Face which sold over 2 million albums and produced the hit single “Hanging By A Moment” that was the named the most-played song in 2001.<><     

Glory2Glory also reported last month that a “Christian version” of Fox-TV’s American Idol was coming to Trinity Broadcasting Network.  The television show has now been named--Gifted--and has been scheduled to debut in October on TBN, which reaches 70 million homes.  The Wright Entertainment Group (who represents mainstream superstars such as Britney Spears and ‘N Sync) along with Matt Crouch (the son of TBN’s founders) has created this talent-search show to "…wrap God's message — His love — in acceptance, and in a way that blends seamlessly into ‘pop’ culture while still upholding the values we, as Christians, value most," according to the joint venture’s mission statement.  A cross-country bus tour is planned for this summer where auditions at 11 different TBN stations will be held for singers ages 18-24.  The tour is scheduled to make stops in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, New York, California, and Washington state with contestants performing gospel or “contemporary spiritual songs.”  Twenty-four finalists will perform before a live studio audience in Hollywood and be evaluated by celebrity judges.  Eight preliminary winners will go on to the finals, where the TV audience will then choose the winner. <><

SOUNDBYTES:

Brian Littrell, one of the founding members of the multi-platinum-selling “Boy Band” Backstreet Boys, is planning to record a Christian music album.  Before his current band topped the mainstream charts in the 90’s, Littrell had his sights on entering Bible college and becoming a minister.<>< PHILLIPS, CRAIG, AND DEAN have signed with INO Records (where label mates include MERCYME) and will release their tenth album entitled Let the Worshippers Arise on September 28th.  The three full-time pastors formed the trio in 1991 and have since racked up 17 no. 1 singles and have sold almost 2 million albums.<>< Tiffany Arbuckle Lee, known to her fans as PLUMB, is currently working on new material for her follow-up to the very successful Beautiful Lumps Of Coal CD last year.  Chaotic Resistance is set for a Spring 2005 release.<>< Modern Worship artist JEFF DEYO and his wife Martha recently received a visit from the stork.  Evan David (weighing in at 9lbs. 4oz.) was born June 3rd. and joins baby brother, eighteen-month-old Roman Jeffrey. <>< STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN and wife Mary Beth are planning to travel to China later this summer to adopt a baby girl from that country.  New daughter Maria will be the Chapmans’ sixth kid and their second adopted child from China.<>< NEWSBOYS will release their second Modern Worship project this fall.  Devotion is purported to pick up where 2003’s Adoration: The Worship Album left off and features the track "Blessed Be Your Name,” a duet with frontman Peter Furler and REBECCA ST. JAMES. <><
