In some good news this week, SWITCHFOOT, THIRD DAY, & AUDIO ADRENALINE invade Australia; PFR’s new album line-up revealed; JEREMY CAMP and ADRIENNE LIESHING new parents; upcoming concerts in the Southwest; new album releases; Top Ten (Real!) Greatest Country Music Songs Of All Time; and much more!
IN THE NEWS:
Contemporary Christian music is taking Australia by storm! SWITCHFOOT recently played to sell-out crowds in Sydney and Melbourne as Jon and Tim Foreman and the band received airplay with their hit singles "Meant To Live" and "Dare You To Move" on three of Sydney's top contemporary rock stations--Nova, Triple M, and 2DayFM. And setting a new record for Christian music concerts in the “Land Down Under” is THIRD DAY and AUDIO ADRENALINE. Both bands will tour Australia’s East Coast in January ’05 with sold out shows already in Sydney (within three days) and in Melbourne and Brisbane (in only five days!) <><
MERCYME has been confirmed as a presenter on the American Music Awards’ three-hour telecast on ABC-TV on Sunday, November 14th. from 7-10 PM (CST.) The band also has been nominated in the “Favorite Contemporary Inspirational Artist” category that will be presented during the live special that airs from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. In other MercyMe news, Bart Millard and Company’s new live DVD will ship Gold (500,000 copies sold) when it’s released on October 26th. The double disc set features live concert footage (with performances of "I Can Only Imagine," “Word of God Speak," and "Here With Me") and behind-the-scenes footage at rehearsals, their 2004 Dove Award performance, band member interviews, accompaniment tracks, and devotional moments with Max Lucado. <><
“DO YOU REMEMBER” DEPARTMENT?: KATY HUDSON, who had several hit CCM singles in the late 90’s, is now performing as Katy Perry and is releasing a new mainstream album on Columbia Records produced by Alanis Morissette’s producer, Glenn Ballard. In a recent Blender magazine interview, the new Perry makes several comments which sadly illustrates the talented singer has forsaken her Christian music roots. When the magazine’s reporter inquired what is the "Recommended Activity While Listening?" to her new album, Perry answered “Drinking, drugs, and other forms of substance abuse.” Also the former Hudson is quoted in the article as saying that she demands "a shrine to Freddy Mercury in my dressing room." <><
SOUNDBYTES:
The iWORSHIP™ Tour kicks off this month featuring Worship leaders/artists DON MOEN, SARA GROVES, PAUL BALOCHE, ROBIN MARK, and LENNY LEBLANC. Proceeds from the tour will benefit Food For The Poor, an international organization providing extensive relief to the residents of the Caribbean islands who were affected by Hurricanes Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne. <>< Here’s the latest details on the new comeback project from PFR slated to hit store shelves on November 23rd.--The Bookhouse Recordings will include three brand new songs plus seven new versions of the band’s classics including "Pray for Rain," "Wonder Why," "Last Breath," "Dying Man," "That Kind of Love," "Great Lengths," and "Anything." <>< CHRIS TOMLIN’s third CD, Arriving, has debuted at #39 on Billboard Magazine’s Top 200 mainstream chart. The singer/songwriter, known for penning such modern Worship classics as “Forever,” “The Wonderful Cross,” and “Famous One,” joins STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN and CASTING CROWNS on the All Things New tour this fall. <>< AUDIO ADRENALINE is auctioning a concert on eBay to benefit their Hands & Feet Project in Haiti. Bidding is for 10 days, beginning on October 18th., with the show going to the highest bidder. To bid on the concert or other band items, visit ebay.com or go to handsandfeetproject.org for more information. <>< JEREMY and ADRIENNE (LIESHING) CAMP are proud new parents of a baby girl. Isabella Rose Camp was born September 25th., weighing in at 6lbs. 1oz. and measuring 18 inches long. <>< SWITCHFOOT just completed a new video for their single "Dare You to Move" which is now impacting mainstream Rock radio. Rumors are that band members were unhappy with the first clip, so now the second video “plays up the guys' boyish looks” and is “aimed directly at teenagers.” <>< 12-year-old singer/actor NICHOLAS JONAS’ radio single “Dear God” is building momentum for his self-titled debut project set to be released on Columbia/INO Records on November 23rd. The already accomplished dancer and Broadway performer is scheduled to perform his new hit song on CBS-TV's The Early Show on November 13th. <><
