IN THE NEWS:
REBECCA ST. JAMES has released a new book this week. According to the Grammy-winning Aussie, She will help young women find liberty from the control of a “tyranny of beauty” that exists in today’s culture. St. James writes about nine areas that place “unrealistic demands” by our society on young women to be beautiful at any cost, which often can lead to tragic results. “SHE,” an acronym for being “Safe, Healthy, Empowered,” was inspired by a period in the 27-year-old singer’s life when St. James admits she embraced a feminist mentality of what she calls “being an independent woman facing the world alone.”
The new book also recounts the author’s own brush with Bell’s Palsy—a virus that attacks facial nerves—that caused loss of control of one side of her lips. “My looks, which I’d taken for granted and are important to the work I do, were suddenly in jeopardy,” she recounts. “Though I regained control of my facial muscles with time, I’ll never again see the way I look on the outside the same way.” The singer says she now realizes that any assets we possess can be gone in an instant. “Lasting beauty which comes from the inside can never be taken away,” she writes. St. James is currently touring in Europe but returns to New York this month for a major media blitz on the book, published by Tyndale. <><
Worship songwriter and artist CHRIS TOMLIN is releasing his first book, The Way I Was Made, on Multnomah Books in January. Tomlin will share his personal testimony and utilize the Bible to point out that every person has been uniquely created for a purposeful life. The writer of such modern Worship anthems as “Famous One” and “The Wonderful Cross,” Tomlin hopes to help readers develop a more intimate relationship with God and refocus their lives on the Lord instead on themselves. <><
Creative Trust Workshop (CTW) has released a new CD that coincides with the book release of Jesus, an in-depth look at the attributes and character of Christ written by some of today's top Christian authors. The 10-song audio project entitled Jesus: A Collection of Modern Worship Reflecting the Person and Presence of Christ will also be released along with a companion bible and journal on Thomas Nelson. The CD features such modern worship favorites as “King Of Glory” by THIRD DAY, “Shout To The Lord” recorded by DARLENE ZSCHECH, and the medley “In The Garden/There Is None Like You” made popular by WATERMARK. <><
