In some good news this week, Worship collaborations abound; Hollywood finally recognizes The Passion; upcoming concerts in the Southwest; new album releases; Top 10 English Language Oxymorons; and much more!

SPECIAL NOTICE:  Millions of children and families are homeless and suffering after a “tsunami” devastated coastal communities throughout South Asia on the day after Christmas.  World Vision was there just hours after the disaster struck, with their staff working around the clock to rush emergency food, water, blankets, medicines and shelter to victims.  And they will be there for the long-term, helping save and rebuild lives.

World Vision needs your help today to meet the overwhelming need of surviving children and families, and ward off an epidemic of deadly disease from contaminated water supplies.  Their goal is to raise $50 million to provide victims with emergency relief and begin the long process of recovery. This is the single largest goal in World Vision’s 54-year history, so your gift of any amount today will help them achieve it.

To help World Vision help victims rebuild their shattered lives, please visit World Vision tsunami Relief Fund. <><

IN THE NEWS:  SUSAN ASHTON, CHRISTINE DENTE (from OUT OF THE GREY), and MICHELLE TUMES will release a new Worship album on March 1st.  Lost in Wonder:  Voices of Worship promises to feature “unique renditions” of popular worship songs including "Beautiful One," "Here I Am To Worship," "Once Again," and "In Christ Alone." <><

Another new collaborative Worship project is set to hit store shelves in March.  Worship Project P40.3 will feature Worship leaders JASON MORANT, DAVE LUBBEN, GLENN PACKIAM, and LAMONT HIEBERT (lead singer of TEN SHEKEL SHIRT).  Inspired by Psalm 40:3, the album will introduce to buyers several new songs, some new versions of already-popular Worship favorites, and also a version of "40", written by U2's Bono.  The enhanced 12-track CD will also offer a bonus of chord charts for four of its songs ("We Lift You Up", "Love Song", "Take Me To The Cross", and "Pleasing") with additional chord charts and lyric files available at verticalmusic.com. <><

The soundtrack of the new film Elektra, starring Jennifer Garner, will include a new version of SWITCHFOOT’s “Sooner or Later” from their classic CD New Way to Be Human.  Also on the album that releases Tuesday, January 11th (four days before the movie hits theaters nationwide) is 12 STONES ("Photograph"), Alter Bridge ("Save Me"), and “former Christian band” Evanescence ("Breathe No More"). <><

After being snubbed at the Golden Globe Awards, Hollywood has finally recognized Mel Gibson for his excellent dramatization of the last hours of Jesus’ life on earth.  The director’s blockbuster movie The Passion of the Christ took home “Favorite Film-Drama” during Sunday night's (January 9th) broadcast of the People's Choice Awards on CBS-TV, beating out The Bourne Supremacy and Ray.  Gibson personally appeared at the awards show that aired live from L.A. and thanked his entire cast, crew, and supporters who helped him to "circumvent the system".  61 million votes were cast online for various nominees in film, television, and music categories. <><

JOHN TESH traveled to India last weekend with his family to help with relief efforts in south Asia recently devastated by the tsunami.  Tesh, his wife Connie Sellecca, 23-year old stepson Gib, and 10-year old daughter, Prima, flew directly to India, then made their way over to Sri Lanka to spend a week with the thousands of residents who were affected by the disaster.  Tesh represented Operation Blessing, a non-profit organization founded by Rev. Pat Robertson that provides relief and development assistance to economically disadvantaged people and victims of disaster across the globe.   As the organization already regularly serves India and Indonesia, Operation Blessing was one of the first relief groups on site after the disaster.  For more information, visit operationblessing.org. <><

SOUNDBYTES:  JARS OF CLAY was named “Artist of the Year” and BETHANY DILLON’s radio hit "Beautiful" clinched “Song of the Year” in The Rock Across Australia year-end music charts.  TRAA researches radio airplay of Christian songs throughout Australia each week. <>< SKILLET’s frontman John Cooper and his wife (and fellow bandmate) Korey are expecting again!  They are planning on the new baby arriving around July 25th. <>< AUDIO ADRENALINE also is growing!  Audio A drummer Ben Cissell and his wife Rhondi are expecting a baby boy in about seven weeks! <><
