John Hartford Archival Project

This email group has no official ties with John Hartford, his heirs or estate

We are about the love of John Hartford and his music, this group is dedicated to finding everything that we possibly can about John Hartford from his earliest days going forward. His influence on bluegrass and old time music from the start of his career up until his untimly death. We want to help educate about John's music from the Missouri Ridge Runners era to his last couple of shows with the Hartford String Band.

John was taper friendly all of his life and there is a large Hartford trading community. We will permit the trading, preservation and archiving of his recorded concerts on this list. Commerical material may not be recorded and never sold. No profit of any kind will ever be allowed or you will be asked to leave the group.

What we would like to have shared with the group is

Audio recordings of live performances
Video recordings

Printed material such as interviews and pictures in old magazines are also encouraged to be shared with this group.

So let's talk about John, what he meant to us, how much we miss him and turn a brand new generation of bluegrass and old time music lovers onto John's music.
