Re: [HPOOF] Doug Jay - How to play with a sax player !

OK the fellow wasmassively inebriated and loud and off key and the owner of the house where we were having the holiday Jam came over and said meethinks he has drunk too much...so it was loud off key and drowned out all the other jammers.  I kept at it just because I don't get to play much outside of the house.  I hear the fellow is pretty decent when sober however.  And he continued to drink while palying more loudly and out of tune.  Then hewanted the thing miced too.  At the time the loud sax became Miced I gave up.  Bascially a lot of really good player who are professional could not take it.  I was a trooper as long as I could be.  I think finally it was only the two guys from the colliders and then they gave up so the sax guy was just in my friend's garage very messed up playing for himself.  I guess the neighbors would have complained but they were all at the party too.  Some stuffed cotton in their ears.
I have palyed with the sax player ofthe Macgregors and that is fine since we know what we are supposed to do and usually it works out...there is also a trumpet player and the three of us can play together and it is all right.  We limit out alcohol intake however. Joyce

I always tend to get unnerved when playing with a sax player.
Especially with a loud sax player that wont lay back. Its worse than a loud guitar player that wont lay back. But this is the way to play with a sax player. Probably the coolest thing I've ever seen. Who is Doug Jay? Great tone and chops. I hear he's a great chromatic player as well?
