Namâd Ensemble connects contemporary audiences to classical Persian music. It was formed by five outstanding musicians who create original compositions based on both the modern and classical poetry of Iran. Passionate and haunting melodies that are performed Kourosh Taghavi on the Setar, and Saeed Kamjoo on the Kamanche and Queychak, poetically fuse with percussions by Mehrdad Arabi and Afshin Mehrassa colorfully creating the needed space in which the beautiful voice of Khosro Ansari tells the stories of our times.
Namâd Ensemble is touring throughout California performing their latest original composition, OSSYAN, based on the poetry of Forough Farrokhzad and Siavosh Kasraei.

Next Thursday, Mastan Ensemble, after successful concerts in Tehran,
bring their "Forbidden Journey" tour to Disney Hall (July 3), and
then to San Diego (July 12).
An accomplished ensemble of 8 young players of Persian classical
instruments, Mastan is guided by 28-year old multi-talented Homay,
who composes the words and music, and sings. Homay's lyrics offer a
subtle, yet current, social commentary in a context of Persian
classical poetry, which makes Mastan Ensemble's music so appealing
to their Persian-speaking fans.

Namaad Ensemble

The rhythmic and melodic subtlety of this Persian classical quartet melds ornamented vocals with haunting string melodies and delicately driving percussion. Known for quiet demeanor and understated interaction, the Namaad Ensemble utilizes the setar (lute), kamanche (fiddle), an array of hand percussion, and the rarely heard ancient queychak (dual-box fiddle). This impressive quartet offers, in an intimate musical setting, the modern and classical poetry of Iran in the traditional dastgah (modal) system of the country.
Abolhassan Khan Eghbal, one of the most influential singers of Persian classical music, has some records with the famous Armenian legendary of Kamanche monsieur Haik. I can’t specify the exactly date of the record, but I guess it should be around 1930 or this is an realier record.
In such records you hear Eghbal singing differently using Aserbaijanian words and ornaments. The record which I published in the following page is in the mode Bayat-e Qajar in Azerbaijanian music or in mode Bayat-e Tork in Persian music.
Damat Garm. This is great Music. Specially toward the end. Do you have any more clips from Farhangfar. Mehdi

Zelli is definitive one of the most brilliant technical singers of the history of Persian classical music in Pahlavi era.
There are really a few records of him. I guess maybe altogether 10 records. I publishes in the past the Abu’ata mode record and sooner or later the others.
Today I digitized the Chahargah mode and I hope you will enjoy it.
