Greetings from Music City!
Since the Society's restructuring in June, I've received emails from
many of you wondering how things were progressing on the job search
front. Gotta love barbershoppers!
Those of you on my Facebook friend's list have been keeping up with me
via that popular social networking platform.
Unfortunately, despite unprecedented efforts on my part to make
something happen, I do not have much meaningful progress to report on
the job front.
The upside to all this is I've been able to carve out a wee bit of
time to...
1) Sharpen my saw;
2) Drum up some gigs for the ACOUSTIX 20th Anniversary Tour; (six
shows booked, with more in the works) BTW, we're looking for some help
with our website: www.acoustix.com
3) Enjoy the continued growth of Nashville SIngers: www.nashvillesingers.org
4) Produce a few voice overs: www.provoicetalent.info
5) Be a bit more proactive when it comes to drumming up some coaching
and consulting business;
That said, as we slide into fall and many of you begin putting
together your plans and budgets for next year, I thought I would
propose the following questions:
1. Do you often wish your chorus sang, sounded, or looked better
when they performed?
2. Do you have a hard time trying to find people to assume a
leadership position in your chorus?
3. Are you interested in a few a few inexpensive approaches to
attract more members, more patrons to your show, or more customers for
your Singing Valentines program?
4. Do you wish more people in your community knew about your group?
5. Do you often wish your chorus had more resources available to
fund your annual operations?
6. Would you like some help in putting together your chorus
workplan for 2010?
7. If I gave you a few sample documents like a chorus business
plan, guest, and member satisfaction surveys, would you use them?
8. Have you avoided bringing in an outside coach because you
thought the expense would be beyond your means?
If you answered YES to any of these questions, Perhaps we should talk.
I recently returned from a 12-day trip to Australia where I was hosted
by the 8-time AAMBS chorus champs, the Blenders, and had the
opportunity to coach five choruses and seven quartets over a nine-day
period. Apparently, the "itch was suitably scratched" as I've been
invited back for a return engagement in March of next year.
That experience reminded me that Aussie barbershoppers sure do know
how to have FUN. This visit also reminded me just how gratifying it is
to witness improvement and to see the sparkle in the eyes of the
performers when they notice the difference too.
I'm putting together my coaching and consulting schedule for the
coming year and would love to include your chorus or quartet in my
plans.
With today's technology I can provide you you with coaching and
consulting services without even leaving Nashville. If you're
interested in exploring the possibilities, please visit the "Coaching"
page of my website at: http://www.toddwilson.info
From this page you can download my "Coaching and Consulting EPK"
which includes some testimonials from happy clients, as well as my
bio, music and business resume, and a "Menu of Services" available.
In addition to improving yourON THE STAGE performance, I can help your
administrative team OFF THE STAGE with some leadership development
training. I've discovered first hand that so many barbershop groups
struggle create a foundation for success in the day to day operation
of their chapter/chorus. This could include providing guidance in
planning, marketing, public relations, as well assistance to help
bring greater definition to your goals as a group. I can promise you
one thing...
If you do not have a dream, it will not likely come true.
Visit the "Leadership Development" page of my website to hear some
audio testimonials from a dozen different chapter leaders that have
participated in my Leadership Roundtable program.
As mentioned earlier, If you're on an even tighter budget than usual,
there are inexpensive options available where I can provide assistance
remotely.
All the best,
--
