I have added THREE NEW TOPICS to my MusicEdTed.info website since my last
posting on May 19th. They are:
9. LEARNING TO HARMONIZE
There are great advantages to harmonizing (woodshedding) that go beyond the fun
of woodshedding. It can make you a better quartet and/or chorus singer. Many
feel very insecure in ear-singing but we give some general rules and specific
tips for each part.
10. HOW WELL DO I SING! - A CHECKLIST
Not only do we list 7 areas to help you analyze what areas need the most work,
but we discuss "Change: Why we don't and how we can".
11. RHYTHM
In this topic, we not only discuss the basics of rhythmic notation but go on to
"Why Meter Doesn't Indicate Tempo" - a confusion in some people's minds. We
also have a page on "Advanced Rhythmic Understandings".

PREVIOUS TOPICS
1. MUSIC READING FOR SINGERS (SIGHT SINGING)
Many barbershoppers are not real great at sight singing because they emphasize
the wrong system. Progress faster in music reading by using a system that makes
most sense to your ear.
2. INACCURATE SINGING - CHILDREN & ADULTS
Commonly many children and adults have problems in matching pitches and
controlling their voice. Contrary to what many people believe that "you either
have it or you don't", accurate singing is a skill that can be learned using the
right techniques - even by adult "inaccurate singers".
3. MEMORIZING MUSIC
Rather than using "brute force" of going over and over the music until it sinks
in, there are helpful tip that can help you to learn music faster.
4. SINGING BETTER THRU REGISTER UNDERSTANDING
Our vocal quality can be greatly improved by understanding vocal registers.
Also if the "register break" is a problem for you, it can be almost eliminated
by wise development and use.
5. SINGING BETTER THRU VOWEL & CONSONANT UNDERSTANDING
Understanding the 12 vowel sounds and the categories of the 22 consonant sound
can improve your singing. Concentrating on the 4 problem words in English and
dealing wisely with diphthongs can make you a better singer.
6. INTONATION
Ringing chords is a major goal for barbershoppers and a main ingredient of that
is singing in tune. Understanding the reasons why 3rds are a serious tuning
problem can greatly help.
7. UNDERSTANDING CHORD MEMBERS
How do you know you are on the 3rd of a chord? With this site we give an
elemental understanding of chords.
8. VOCAL HEALTH, WARM-UPS & SINGING CRAFT
Handling your vocal health also includes warming up the voice. As important is
understanding how your voice is doing at the moment. This leads into over 25
exercises dealing with the craft of singing.
