I stumbled across a website for a non-profit that HArry Connick Jr.
donated autographed CD's to. There are autographed items from Ms.

Looks like a good cause too.

is anyone else loving the suncom commercials as much as i am?? i've
been running around with "we're suncom, and we get it!" stuck in my
head for a week! ;)
Hi My Name is Susan & I am 26! I am new the group and I am huge Harry
Connick Jr Fan!! I love his music. My favorite album is To See You
and favorite song has to be "Learn to Love" but the one that always
gets me sentimental is off his 30 album "One More Time".. I saw him
in concert a couple of years back.. I can honestly say that was the
best night of my life.. My best friend said I was gloating like it
was my wedding day..... I was 5 rows from the stage so I saw him
pretty close up. He sang a song about New Orleans (I am in louisiana
by the way) and me and my friend some people on the row behind us. We
all stood up and danced but everyone else stayed seated. But I sware
he was looking me dead in the eyes one part while he was dancing and
as I am sure you can imagine I almost melted. hehehe
It was fun when he was playing christmas songs on the piano (it was
in early december when I saw him).. He would play on his piano
christmas songs and the audience would sing it! It was awesome. I
Hope to see him again really soon and I look forward to chatting with
all you guys!!
Susan Kaye
This is a really late reply (I've been busy with my wedding), but I
was going to recommend Harry's album, "France, I Wish You Love" It's
sort of a greatest hits. It can be expensive unless you find it
online somewhere. It is one of my favorites, especially for his big
band stuff. It's got stuff form When Harry Met Sally and Blue Light,
Red light and those are probably my favorite two albums. There are
also some great moments on each of is other cds. Personally, I like
the livelier stuff, so his newer cds aren't doing as much for me
(except I love his children's cd).
I don't know if anyone here is much into his funk albums, but She is
better than Star Turtle I think. I teach elementary school music and
when I teach 2nd grade about New Orleans we do a second line to Here
Comes the Big Parade. And I have gone to jazz festivals and have
heard bands cover that song of Harry's. Also, even my custodian has
come in when I have She on and is suprised that it's Harry. That
album was an adjustment for me at first but I ended up liking it a
lot.

I noticed last night that Harry is on the cover of Jazz Times. I saw
it after the registers were closed where I work so I am going back
today to get it. Look for it.

OMG!... loved his appearance on both Letterman and O'Brien last
week. If it reairs in your region, folks, tape it! April, I nearly
toppled out of my seat with Harry on Conan-- an intriguing experience!
Got the album... Over at Target, it's $9.98, including a bonus CD
with five tracks, one previously unreleased and four from other
albums. It's definitely one to own-- loved Harry's versions of "Only
You" (title track) and "You Don't Know Me".
Can't wait for the tour... I'm there with bells on and a huge smile
plastered on my face.
Later,

Harry is a household name for my family. My nine and five year old
girls and I are madly in love with him and his music. My husband is
extremely jealous of him! My nine-year-old and I just went to the
Eastman Theatre in Rochester, NY to see him on December 6th. Nothing
compares to seeing him in concert and sharing what seems to be a one
on one conversation with the man himself. I keep up on him as much as
I can and I love to hear that there are others that appreciate his
one in a million smile and talent and his sensual voice.
Hey, everybody--
Harry's album is doing GREAT!!!
Take a look at what was posted on Billboard.com earlier today:
Harry Connick Jr. soars 23-12 with his "Harry for the Holidays"
(Columbia), a career-high mark for the New Orleans-based
artist. Following his Thanksgiving night NBC holiday special and
a slew of television appearances, sales of the album were up
18% to 113,000 copies. His 1994 set "When My Heart Finds
Christmas" peaked at No. 13.
WAY TO GO, HARRY AND THE BAND!!
Harry was on last Friday's (or Thursday) Oprah show, showing his
favorite places in New Orleans and making an appearance promoting his
upcoming Christmas album. Don't know if any of her current shows
rerun in your area, but I just wanted to let folk know.
Later,

I have been listening to a new artist called The Soul of John Black.
They fuse together soul, blues, R&B, and cool guitars. I totally dig
their sound Take a look at http://www.thesoulofjohnblack.com and
listen to some MP3's there. You'll see what I am talking about. CT
from this band has played with Harry before.
I am so glad with what he is doing with his next release. He is so
great with anything he does but it will be so nice to hear his cd
when he returns to traditional jazz :), sounds great :)!!!
Take care

CORRECTED: Connick Returns to Traditional Jazz

By Steven Graybow
NEW YORK (Billboard) - After numerous flirtations with pop standards
and big band vocals, Harry Connick (news) Jr. is returning to small
ensemble traditional jazz for his next release.
Due July 15, the all-instrumental "Other Hours -- Connick on Piano,
Volume 1," will be a one-off release for Marsalis Music, the label
formed by saxophonist Branford Marsalis in early 2002.
Connick remains signed to Columbia Records, where Marsalis enjoyed a
stint as an executive in the jazz department. Connick studied with
Marsalis' father Ellis early in his career.
Joining the pianist on "Other Hours" are tenor saxophonist Ned
Goold, bassist Neal Caine, and drummer Arthur Latin II, all members
of Connick's touring orchestra. Much of the material is culled from
Connick's Tony-nominated score for the Broadway musical "Thou Shalt
Not"; the remainder consists of compositions written for but not
used in the final version of the play.
"When I tour with my big band, I enjoy everything that is involved,
from writing the material and getting the audience feedback to being
on the road with everyone," Connick said in a statement. "But while
piano playing is a huge part of what I do, there is only so much
that will fit into my shows. The quartet offers something different
and more intimate, both musically and socially. It provides the
chance to go places I can't go as a pianist in other formats, and
allows a more intensive look at my approach to the instrument."
Connick's last project, "Songs I Heard," debuted November 2001 at
No. 2 on Billboard's Top Jazz Albums chart. In addition to his
recording career, Connick has been seen on the television
series "Will & Grace (news - Y! TV)" in a recurring role as the
character Leo.

Hey folks,
I saw that concert on PBS this past weekend, by accident!
All I can say is that it was beuatiful watching the Marsalises
together jamming, and it was a delight seeing Harry play with them.
Hope the program reairs sometime soon.
