Description

'HEADS'

This group exists mainly to discuss British (primarily) and U.S. rock music of the period 1965-1975, concentrating on the
styles known as 'progressive' or 'underground'.

Without being proscriptive, it is not intended to cover present-day bands in the progressive style,
nor is it restricted to today's rather narrow definition of 'progressive' music. The genre in the late 60s
and early 70s included much that today's younger fans would not consider 'prog', e.g. folk-rock, psychedelia, blues, and
so on. In those days, Peter Green and Al Stewart were just as 'alternative' as King Crimson!

As a simple guideline, if it appeared on the Island, Vertigo, Harvest, Deram or Dawn labels during the period in question,
it's in!

It is not anticipated that we concentrate too heavily on what has become known as 'Classic Rock' -
the BIG acts such as Genesis, Pink Floyd, Hendrix, Jethro Tull, etc. already receive heavy coverage, and while they belong
squarely in 'our' category, it would be nice to give a little attention to the slightly less
world-dominating acts - think Wishbone Ash, Piblokto! and Caravan. Think John Peel, Andy Dunkley and Bob Harris.
Think ZigZag, Time Out, Oz and International Times. Think the Roundhouse, Middle Earth and Mothers. Think loon pants,
kaftans and greatcoats. You get the idea.

The list is unmoderated, but personal abuse and flaming will not be tolerated.

As Bob Harris might have said - "Nice..."
