hi edith
thanks for the news- it is unfortunate that only 12 people managed
to attend. i would have loved to gone, but as i mentioned earlier i
uprooted my household and moved during the month of july- a rather
traumatic experience. i guess the board has their work cut out for
them. holding events in more populated areas (populated by
historical harpers, their friends and allies)would probably be more
conducive to getting attendees. as we all know, voting for officers
happens at these events yet we've heard nothing about that roster.
it is tough with such a geographically far-flung group to get people
psyched about something happening half a country away. perhaps the
hhs needs to encourage local chapters much the way the folk harpies
do it. these local 'grass-roots' type meetings can then be the
springboard for a grander convocation held yearly or every two
years. but in any case this forum is a wonderful opportunity for
posting research, posting queries, and in general just keeping in
touch with others who play these instruments. the downside of it is
that you have to jump online and tiptap away on your keyboard. i
know since i've connected to the world wide web that my practice
time has plummeted in direct proportion to my internet surfing. oh
well- trade-offs abound. enough of my yapping: hhs board members,
what are you doing to make this a more viable entity?
