Is anyone on the list planning to come to the Somerset Folk Harp Festival? I
spent an entire day last week at the Library of Congress reserving some of the
books we'll be seeing.
One highlight of this process was holding in my hands a copy of the 1796 Edward
Bunting publication which he had signed with his own hand. Really brought it
home to me that this is real history, not just stories.
There's some other really nice and interesting things we'll be looking at, and
that's only the half of it. Also included is the harp-sighting trip to the
National Gallery of Art (a tour designed just for us by the music director
there.)
If anyone is just thinking about attending Somerset and not really sure, I
thought you might want to know about this field trip. It would be awful to miss
it because you just didn't know, and then to read about it in a future thread
from those who got to be there.
And of course, this is in addition to the workshops, concerts, exhibits, and
remember that Ann Heymann will be there teaching and performing, and she is also
bringing her horse-hair harp!
Any questions, please do ask. You may of course write to me privately if you
wish.
