Claudette and Bob,
Fascinating. I love the label and can't begin to wax lyrical (pun intended) over the Oriole label which had a good selection of early Motown on it too. Shake Sherrie by The Countours, Two Lovers by Mary Wells, You Really Got A Hold On Me andd Mickey's Monkey by The Miracles, and even little Stevie Wonder with Fingertips to mention a few for old time British collectors (Derby). An Oriole discography would be great.
The Emabssy label had so many cover - a lot of doowop and crooners but as far as I can remember not too many outright soul artists. I do remeber an Embassy L.P. by Sly and tghe family Stone on Embassy - was it the same label.
I tool a look at the Soul offerings for Hit Records and altough I see a lot of effort went into the work, it sadly seems lacking of major-time soul collectors in the actual compositions. But at least it was an effort. Far more of an effort and of greater interest is to actually collect the real Hit 45's. Some are a tad hard to comwe by but its good fun collecting and the production overall is very good inj comaprison to other local labels of the era. I do think that by far the best version I have ever heard on Uptight is actually the Hit Records cover by Ritchie Brown.
Thanks for sharing the thoughts, offerings, and information - I'll Catch you, on the Flip Side

Hi Paul,I have checked this CD out and the supplier also as copies of Vol 1 & 2.I had thought of buying all three as I have never heard any HIT RECORDS except for those you have put on your site. What is the quality like???Are there sleeve Notes.????In other words are they worth their cost. They also have one of Groups. In the UK we have a company called REX and they have just issued a CD of 50's Embassy Records, all digitally re-recorded and I must say they have done a brilliant job.Number is REXX 315,may you could give it a mention as I know many HIT RECORD collectors also collect Embassy Records and visa versa.By the way we have a site for Embassy, www.embassyrecords.co.uk have a look and let me know what you think about it.All the best.Bob Lusty.

consisting of 30 Tracks. I am not selling it simply reporting this
fan effort or bootleg is now available from various sources on the
internet. I honestly have stopped purchasing this poorly compiled series.
However the newest volume is of interest because it contains the Hit
Records contest entry form.
Now would the person compiling these please put a Hit Records jukebox
title strip on one.
Thanks!
