Re: Radio And Internet News: Pandora advertising, DIY 'Net radio receiver

Hi Harold!!

Yes, the DIY radio does put the price range within the reach of a
lot of people. I'm a "homebrewer" and I'd love to put one together
but I've got a bunch of other projects that need doing. My hopes are
to see $50 or less internet radios someday. I think as more sell
we'll see prices drop.

The MYLO is working very well. I've learned to use the keyboard with
my fat fingers. There are differences in where a bunch of things are
but once you get use to their location it's not bad to use.

The still camera works good. I've taken several pictures and they've
all come out fine. Haven't tried the movie camera yet but I've
learned to convert videos in my computer to the mp4 format to play
in the MYLO. Next I need to get a memory stick so I can store more
files.

I actually was using the WiFi system in the local hospital where I
was for a while today. They have a bunch of things blocked and you
can't play internet radio unfortunately. But I could watch the 1290
GLI site and see the song titles changing. That's was confirmation
enough for me that the station was on line. I was able to do my e-
mail and browse the forums while listening to mp3's at the same
time. All the things I use to do with my laptop but with something
you can carry in your pocket.

Like I've said in the past my ISP has WiFi all over the place. But
last weekend I was in Wayne, NJ at the Patterson University Rec
Center watching Tiger Schulman's Black Belt Test. The Rec Center has
WiFi and I was able to listen to my station the entire time I was
there.

The MYLO is cool because it builds a little database of all the WiFi
access points you've used. When you get in range of one it connects.
A lot of the stores and businesses here have their own open WiFi
access points. Pull in to a shopping center and you may find a few.
It's fun and I'm enjoying it.

More later.
