Re: my life .com

Thanks for letting us know. I moderated it out of existence, so it never reached
this group's subscribers, thankfully.

Question: Your station's tag is simply "GREAT MUSIC 24/7"? What type of music? I
hope you don't mind my advice: Perhaps you should be more specific about what
type of music you're playing on your station. "GREAT MUSIC" doesn't inspire me
to want to tune in; if you had something more descriptive of the genre you're
playing, I might want to check it out.

I'm no longer webcasting, and I don't profess to be an expert (though I can
pretend to be one, LOL). That said, I remember wanting to keep my station open
so as to be able to program whatever genre of music or other programming that I
was in the mood for. My station was eclectic, in my view, and though this
appealed to a few listeners, they were kept few, in part, due to my reluctance
to be more consistent in playing one type of genre.

People like to make associations with brands, and the early days of Voyager (the
first incarnation of my Live365 station, named after NASA space probe mission)
certainly kept to its namesake: an exploration that provided substance and some
glimpses of greatness. Yet the stream was ultimately aimless, satisfying myself
more than anyone else. Eventually, I switched formats -- I selected the one
genre I preferred playing the most -- and set out to market that genre and my
station as one of the few niches in that genre. This attracted a far greater
number of listeners.

I don't know if you're station is intended to be eclectic or non-specific (as
mine once was) since I haven't yet tuned in. I'm simply offering my advice, my
perspective. Again, I'm not really an expert: I never achieved a huge number of
listeners, enough to drive a business or anything. Still, I do recall the
difficulty of differentiating my Live365 stream from the thousands of others
available, and one of my earliest lessons was in realizing the need to establish
a specific "voice" in the cacaphony.
