Thanks, Mark... looking forward to it.
And if there are any J&D or 60s rock and roll fans out there who haven't heard side four of the Anthology album... it's a jaw-dropping piece of
work... classic... at once a live concert and a complete send up of itself and its competition at the same time."Let's Hang On, Might As Well,"
"Hang on Sloopy" and the maddening, insane, angry-audience-fueled impromptu burst into "Whistling Dixie" which, unbelievably, triggers cheers and appluase...

That was the plan. I contacted Dean, he agreed to participate, and I put Dave in touch with him. The show was pre-recorded, so we'll see how it plays out.
But regardless, I included some of Dean's stuff in the track line-up. If you've read Dave's liners for "Anthology," you'll know he's keen on the comedy. For Dave, "Side 4" was "s ome of the blackest rock 'n roll humor ever waxed." So in addition to arrangement and production, we cover the comedy angle pretty well -- and Dean was a major part of that.
The tracks range from original Jan & Dean, to outside Jan Berry productions (expect something rare here), "live" comedy, solo stuff by Dean, solo stuff by Jan, and a few pieces from the recent tribute album. A few of the cuts were chosen specifically by Dave.
Dean was also on a recent WFMU show with Domenic Priore.

Just curious regarding this J&D radio special... was Dean a participant?

Still working on it . . . although I plan to publish a JB/J&D Sessionography first (which is getting the focus right now).

Back from New York City . . .
Dave Marsh and I had a blast putting together the new two-hour Jan Berry / Jan & Dean episode of "Kick Out the Jams."
The show will be a mixture of musi c and talk. We recorded the program in Eminem's "Shade 45" studio at Sirius.
It airs on Sunday, June 21 — the first day of summer . . . Sirius Channel 29, "The Loft," XM 50 . . . 10:00 a.m. to Noon ET (Replay at 12:00 a.m. Wednesday/Tuesday night).
http://www.sirius. com/theloftIn other news . . . I hung out in Manhattan with my Los Angeles pal Domenic Priore. We talked shop in Central Park (and had espresso at the Russian Tea Room on 57th St.) Some very cool stuff on the horizon that Jan & Dean fans will be pleased with . . . M.

Greetings from New York City.
Currently enjoying the evening in Midtown Manhattan, two blocks south of Central Park.
Dave Marsh and I are working on a two-hour Jan & Dean radio show, which will air later this June on Marsh's Sirius Satellite program called "Kick Out the Jams."
Channel 29, "The Loft."
Fans will remember that Marsh (legendary journalist and rock historian) wrote the liner notes for J&D's landmark "Anthology" comp in 1971.
We'll keep you posted on exact air date, etc.
