Cousin Brucie Morrow, a legendary NYC radio personality, has a great new book out entitled "Rock & Roll- And the Beat Goes On". I just got my copy and I really love it. It's loaded with great photos, interesting facts and memories, and lots more. It primarly cover the 60's and 70's.
Page 88 includes a spotlight on Jan & Dean. There's only one or two sentences written about them, but their name is written boldly on the top of the page along with a nice photo of their "Sidewalk Surfin" picture sleeve right in the middle of the page. It was nice to see a whole page of the book set aside in honor of Jan & Dean.
Also, at the end of the book, Cousin Brucie lists his Top 250 most influential artists, and I was happy to see that Jan & Dean did in fact make the list! The list was alphebetical so the artists were not book in any specific order. Funny how they are one of the most influential artists of all time, but can't make the R&R Hall of Fame!
I recommend that you pick up a copy of this great book today! By the way, this book is actually Cousin Brucie's follow-up to his previous book, "DOO WOP" which is mainly about the 50's and early 60's and the earliest days of Rock & Roll. You should get a copy of that one too!
