The clock radio turned on and I couldn't believe it; the host of the second largest oldies station in northeastern Ohio said,:" it official, Jan & Dean's Carnival will be introduced this fall. The female co-host said, "your kidding, after all these years. The male host, said "Yes" went into detail about when it was made, Jan's accident, legal wrangling all these years, but now it is Official, Carnival of Sound will be released yet this year."
Words can"t describe how I felt listening to them discuss J & D. It is like Jan came back and said, " I am going to get this thing straightened out." They spoke of the guys in present tense, as though for the last 50 years they have never stopped, still going, and now this new addition.WOW! I have cold chills running down my back. One more time, they are back. Does it make you feel as good as it does me?????????? ?????

By the way, I just listened to the song sample of FAN TAN on Rhino's website and it's sounds great!! It makes me appreciate the song even more than I did before, even though I always did like it. It's like hearing it again... for the first time! Hearing the whole album with this sound quality will be an awesome experience.

Thanks for the tip David. It's really Jan & Dean's original version of "Fan Tan" from the original master tapes? Sounds too good to be true, but I'll check it out. If it is true, I might have to pick up a copy of this.
I really do wish somebody would release on official version of the whole "Carnival Of Sound", using the original master tapes, or sources that are better quality than the bootlegs that have come out over the years.

There's a new box set going on sale Tuesday on amazon.com with Jan & Dean's Fan Tan on it. I played the 30-second preview clip and it sure sounds like it's from the master tapes.The set is called Where The Action Is! Los Angeles Nuggets 1965-1968 and it's from Rhino. It's about $40 and otherwise has mostly non-hits. Now, if Rhino would only license the whole Carnival of Sound album...David
