Look Ma, no spam! An actual Jess Klein post.
Jess gave a wonderful performance at Jammin' Java in Vienna, VA Saturday
night. Even the 1-1/2 hour wait at a roadblock only 10 miles from my house
on the way home couldn't dampen my spirits.
Along with Zack Hickman on bass, piano and pump organ, Jess played new
songs, old songs, and a few covers. The highlight cover for me was You
Send Me (which did, BTW). The new songs that I enjoyed were Bombs Are
Falling, Stuck In Love (with Jess on electric) and Four Hours (not quite
that new really). The favorite old song was Flirting, which I had never
heard live before.
Jess promised that the "Twelve Hour Dream" EP will be released at some
point in time. Also, she was recording at a studio in New Hampshire called
"the cave" and that a new CD could be out sometime next spring.
Here's the setlist:
Highway 29??? (Tom Waits)
Ireland
To My Home Now
To Be Young (Ryan Adams)
Bombs Are Falling
The House You're Living In
Stuck In Love
Pressure
San Fran Baby
Little White Dove
Love Is Where You Find It
The Phone Rings
Watertown
You Send Me (Sam Cooke)
Promising Times
Flirting
I Tried
Four Hours -->
Last Embrace
ENCORE
I'll Be Alright

Hi all,
I just wanted to post the three photos I took of Jess at the
Gathering of the Vibes on Sat 7/8/02 in Mariaville NY. I really
enjoyed her set, and I wanted to share that with you all.
From the beginning of her set at 12:45pm, me and friends were on the
concert field for the next 12 hours, Jess kicked it off for a great
start of music!
Enjoy!

Does anyone know what the title
is of Jess' song where she
sings about Mario and his girlfriend and they are five miles from
the border when life goes awry? And is it recorded on one of her
cds? I own "Draw Them Near" and "Wishes Well
Disguised" so
is it on Flattery?
It's called Bonita Corazon, and I don't believe it's on a recording
yet.

Is this Bonito Corazon? If that's the song you are talking about, no I don't
believe that Jess has released it yet.
Also, anyone is the Boston area can catch VOTV on Etown this Tue at 8pm on
WUMB 91.9fm. For those of you not in the area, WUMB does broadcast over the
net. www.wumb.org
To see if/when Etown is carried on a station near you, check their site -

I don't know that song, but she wrote it after Flattery all of her CD's came
out. I don't know the name of it, but I am sure you can get a copy of it
from one of her taping fans!

I just got this message from another Yahoo group I belong to and couldn't believe it. Apparently our friends at Yahoo plan to spam us to death unless we opt out. Here's the details, check it out for yourself,
Des.
I normally HATE HATE HATE forwards.. but this is legit. It's right on the Yahoo webpage. Save yourself from Yahoo spam.
Hi everyone,
I don't know if Yahoo was planning to inform any of its lowly users directly or not, but why would you pay attention to an email from Yahoo anyway? Email from me, on the other hand... Apparently the Yahoo privacy policy is changing so that basically they can send you any damn thing they want in email, plus over the phone and snail mail if you've provided that information! Unless you opt out in the next 60 days. If you hate spam as much as you should, follow the instructions below (modified forward from someone) and change all those yes's to no's. I just did it, and I am greatly looking forward to not getting Yahoo spam on 30 different topics.
Yahoo is changing its Marketing/Privacy policy to automatically enroll users to receive certain e-mail notices about Yahoo products and services. Yahoo's new privacy policy is pretty damn invasive. I highly recommend that you modify your options. It's highly sleazy, but we always knew that Yahoo had no honor. Without modification, Yahoo can send you email, USMail, and make telephone solicitations to you. You can opt-out of them, but there may be a limited window of opportunity to do so. Yahoo users will be given notice and a 60-day period for the opt-out, but might as well take care of it now. If you want to opt out, go here and log-in: http://groups.yahoo.com/>http://groups.yahoo.com/ [You can also go to http://edit.my.yahoo.com.
log in, and follow the directions below.] Then scroll up to the top right corner and click on "Account Info." You will be asked to provide your password again. After entering your password, click "continue." You will be taken to your Account Information screen. Look under "Member Information" on your "Yahoo ID Card." Under "Yahoo! mail addresses" is a link that says "Edit Your Marketing Preferences." Click on it. Make sure to select "no" for every option you don't want notices on, including the two way down at the bottom for phone and snail mail notices. (Note that it will probably have "yes" pre-selected for most options - just click "no" to change it.) Before you leave this screen, ALSO click on the option near the top right of the page that says "Edit Email Subscriptions." Select "no" for every option you don't want to receive e-mail on. Then click "save changes" (top right). Select "continue" when it takes you to the next screen. That will take you back to your "Edit Marketing Preferences" screen. Then click "save changes" and then click "continue." Lots of steps, but hopefully it'll keep a lot of Yahoo SPAM out of your mailbox. Here's the article about this: http://zdnet.com.com/2100-1105-870581.html
This looks pretty interesting. I wonder what the geographic
limitations are....

i got mine at folkweb. i also got monday morning cold there...i heart erin!! ; ) aLiciA People oftentimes ask me, "Alicia, are the songs on Alicia Keys' album 'Songs in A minor' really all in the key of A minor?" And the answer is, "no." The single, "Fallin'" is all I can speak for, but it is not in the key of A minor. Minor scales are derived from the sixth scale degree of a relative major. C is the relative major of A. Minor scales retain all properties of the relative major. Since the key of C has no sharps or flats, A minor must logically also have none. "Fallin'" is in the key of E minor, whose relative major is G, who to complete the tetrachord pattern has a rasied seventh scale degree, F#. So, anyone who sees sheet music will notice the F# marked on the beginning of each staff, and be certain the that song is certainly NOT in A minor; disqualifying the album title.
