Jessica to Be Rosie's First Guest on The View

Jessica Simpson will appear on the first episode of The View to star new cohost Rosie O'Donnell, on Sept. 5, PEOPLE has learned.

"Rosie herself reached out to Jessica," says a source close to Simpson about the singer-actress's guest shot.

The two have a long history together, going back to The Rosie O'Donnell Show, which aired from 1996-2002, when O'Donnell was riding the crest as TV's highly rated "Queen of Nice."

"When Jessica was just starting out, none of the big shows were interested in her, but Rosie took a chance on her and Jessica never forgot it," says the source.

It wasn't just a break that O'Donnell provided, but encouragement.

"When Jessica was on The Rosie O'Donnell Show years ago," the source went on to say, "Rosie went backstage afterwards and said, 'You're gonna be a star.' "

Adds the source: "Jessica will never forget her."

The View appearance will just follow the release of Simpson's new album, A Public Affair, which hits stores only a week before, on Aug. 29.

O'Donnell, of course, will be assuming Meredith Vieira's former chair on the ABC daytime gabfest, while Vieira becomes the new cohost of NBC's Today show.

Jessica & Nick Together Again?

Jessica Simpson has been tapped as cohost of the Teen Choice Awards, and she may have her work cut out for her at the Aug. 20 event. Not only is she a nominee, but so is her ex-husband, Nick Lachey, and his new squeeze, Vanessa Minnillo.

Simpson is nominated for choice movie breakout performance – for her role as Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard – as well as for choice red-carpet fashion icon and choice hottie. Meanwhile, Lachey is nominated in the male hottie category and Minnillo is up for choice TV personality.

Simpson and Lachey, who costarred in the MTV reality show Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, finalized their divorce on June 30 after three years of marriage. Recently, Lachey has been spotted spending time with Minnillo in New York and Los Angeles.

The eighth annual Teen Choice Awards, during which winners will be presented with surfboard awards, will air live on FOX (at 8 p.m. ET). Simpson's cohost will be announced at a later date, the network said Tuesday.

Voters can cast their ballots until Aug. 11 on the Web sites TeenPeople.com, MySpace.com, Ign.com and Fox.com.

Up next for Simpson, 26, is a starring role in the comedy Employee of the Month, which opens Sept. 15. Her new album, A Public Affair, hits stores Aug. 29.

Lachey, 32, is scheduled to kick off his "What's Left of Me" tour on Sept. 20 in Albany, N.Y.

Jessica Simpson will co-host "Teen Choice 2006," airing live Sunday,
Aug. 20, on FOX following an advance look at the glitz and glamour of
the event during a hot red carpet special. Her hosting partner for the
show will be announced at a later date.

Simpson will preside as co-host over the eighth annual special, where
the coolest stars will receive coveted Teen Choice surfboard awards in
categories such as Choice Breakout TV Show, Choice Sleazebag, Choice
Hissy Fit, Choice Rumble, Choice TV Actress, Choice Rock Track, Choice
Grill, Choice Athlete and Choice TV Sidekick.

Nick Lachey & Jessica Simpson Move On

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey felt some sadness when their divorce was finalized June 30, say friends of the former Newlyweds. Still, a source close to Simpson tells PEOPLE, "Both of them have moved on."

Indeed. As PEOPLE reports in its new issue, Lachey, 32, spent the early morning hours of July 4 at Manhattan's Butter nighclub kissing, cuddling – and getting lap dances from – his new squeeze, Entertainment Tonight correspondent Vanessa Minnillo.

A few days earlier, on July 1, Simpson, 26, headed to Southampton's Pink Elephant club, where she spent almost an hour laughing in a private cabana with Scrubs star Zach Braff at a party for Kritik Clothing.

"Life goes on," Simpson's pal tells PEOPLE. "She's not going to be hiding."

Jessica Simpson has announced full details of her new album, 'A Public
Affair'.

Billboard reports that the album will be released on 29 August and
will be preceded by the title track single.

The video for the single was shot at the weekend by 'X-Men: The Last
Stand' director Brett Ratner and features appearances by, among
others, Eva Longoria, Christina Milian, 'American Idol' host Ryan
Seacrest and Christina Applegate.

It will premiere on MTV in the US on 19 July.

Nine of the album's 12 songs were co-written by Simpson, who worked
with production legends Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis on the album.

Jessica Simpson insists she's not ready to date and is still
recovering from the break up from her estranged husband Nick Lachey. A
teary-eyed Simpson was interviewed by "E! News" co-host Ryan Seacrest,
who also made an appearance in her latest music video for A Public
Affair.

When Seacrest asked her if she was at the point where she felt she
could start dating again, she said, "No, not yet." The host then asked
her if she thought she would be ready to get back into the dating
scene anytime soon, and she said wistfully, "I don't know ..."

Trying to lighten the somber mood, Simpson added
optimistically, "Somebody's got to ask me out!"

Jessica Simpson may be living single, but she knows what she's looking for: "A guy with a great imagination sends me through the rafters," she tells Maxim. "I love it!"

Simpson, 25, the magazine's July cover girl, also reveals her smooching style. "I love to kiss with my eyes open," she says, "because I can take in the entire situation and know if I'm enjoying it or not."

(The singer was recently spotted flirting with Jared Leto.)

Although Simpson's famous figure has been widely admired, she thinks sister Ashlee, 21, has the ideal body. "My sister has the most perfect boobs and skinniest legs," she says.

Jared Leto seems to prefer a certain type of woman, specifically, the
type who was still in elementary school when he was making hearts
flutter as Jordan Catalano on "My So-Called Life" (please see former
squeezes Lindsay Lohan, Ashley Olsen and Scarlett Johansson), but has
he suddenly decided to skew a little older?

Word is Jessica Simpson may have caught the excessively kohl-rimmed
eye of the ornery actor-cum-rocker, who a couple of weeks back
jokingly announced during an interview, "I'm gay."

Seems Leto, 34, and the not-quite-ex Mrs. Nick Lachey, 25, were spied
looking cozy last week during a late-night rendezvous at Manhattan
hotspot Double Seven, report People, the New York Daily News and Star.

"Jared went right over to be near Jess, and sat down next to her," a
mole blabs to Star. "They were talking very closely."

When not supposedly deep in conversation (imagined dialogue: "Any tips
on how I can keep my makeup from running when I'm onstage with my
awesome band, 30 Seconds to Mars?" "You gotta try my Dessert line --
it's lickable!"), Simpson and Leto shook their groove things to her
appropriately titled new single "Public Affair," which she debuted to
a crowd that included Lance Armstrong and John Mayer, reports People.

Later, they were said to be "hanging all over each other" (according
to the News' source) and "draped all over each other" (according to
the Star's coincidentally similar-sounding source).

"... It's not like they were trying to hide it -- a lot of people
inside the lounge saw them openly flirting, and couldn't believe their
eyes," says the tabloid's spy. "They looked like they were having a
lot of fun together. But they didn't kiss -- that was at least one
thing they kept out of public!"

Jessica's rep, however, pooh-poohs their purported chumminess to the
News, a sentiment echoed by Jared's rep, who tells MSN Entertainment
that talk of draping and/or hanging on one another "is incorrect."

The pair, by the by, also happened to be in proximity to one another
on June 2, when they turned up at a Beverly Hills bash hosted by
Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld. Also in attendance: Lohan, who not
only bumped into Leto (per Us) but also posed -- sans her usual smile
-- for a snap with Simpson, whom she allegedly had in tears after a
verbal tussle back in Apri

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey's divorce to be finalised on June 17th

It looks like the Newlyweds are to be Newlydivorced: a new reports
claims Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey will be officially divorced
in less than ten days.

The couple split in November after three years of marriage and
according to a source quoted in Life & Style Weekly, the divorce
will be finalised on 17th June.

The magazine also notes that Nick wanted a trial separation or
counselling but it was Jessica who pushed to file for divorce.

Since the split, Nick has been linked to a number of different women
but according to Star magazine, Jessica is finding it tougher to
find love.

An inside source has revealed: "Jessica's learning that most men
aren't as commitment as Nick was."

"She's seen that there aren't many eligible men who are serious
boyfriend material. Most men she meets look at her as an easy score
or a ditzy blonde."

Simpson Lands 'Baywatch' Movie Role
Jessica Simpson is set to take over Pamela Anderson's role in the long-
awaited big screen version of beach TV show Baywatch. The sexy singer
is set to don the infamous red swimsuit adored by many fans of the
popular lifeguard series when she plays CJ Parker, the role which
launched Anderson to stardom. A source tells British newspaper The
Sun, "Jessica really caught the eye in The Dukes of Hazzard film last
summer. She was the unanimous choice for the Baywatch role. Jessica
has all the assets to make Pam's part her own." Producers hope David
Hasselhoff will agree to star in the film in his original role as
Mitch Buchannon.

Jessica Simpson is considering adopting a child, her publicist, Rob Shuter, has confirmed.

"Nothing has been finalized yet," Shuter, who was asked when and how Simpson would adopt, told the Associated Press on Tuesday. He added, "It is true that she's exploring options."

The 25-year-old singer-actress, who filed for divorce from Nick Lachey last December, recently told TV's Extra: "I want to adopt, and I plan to adopt before I have my own kids.

She also said of a particularly well-known adoptive mother, "I think Angelina Jolie has done amazing, amazing things, and the international adoption rate just since her has skyrocketed. It's unbelievable."

Jessica Simpson has a new nest when it comes to making music. Currently working on a successor to her 2003 CD In This Skin, the Dukes of Hazzard star is switching from Columbia to Epic Records after a six-year-run at her first label.

"I love all my friends and supporters at Columbia. I will miss them as I start this new relationship," Simpson, 25, tells Billboard magazine.

Referring to Epic's new president Charlie Walk, who formerly oversaw marketing at Columbia, as the one she trusts most "to present my new music to the world," Simpson says: "Charlie Walk was my first hero at Columbia. He believed in me before I really even got to meet the rest of the company."

In divorce papers, Nick Lachey is seeking spousal support from Jessica Simpson, and he wants his jewelry back.

In court papers filed Friday in response to Simpson's Dec. 16 divorce filing, Lachey cited irreconcilable differences for the dissolution of the three-year marriage.

Lachey, 32, also asked for "miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects," part of Simpson's earnings from after the date of separation and other assets.

Lachey said he and Simpson separated Dec. 13, although she claims it was Nov. 23.

The couple, who starred in their own MTV reality show, "Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica," had no prenuptial agreement and in her petition, Simpson asked the court not to grant Lachey spousal support.
