November, 2, 2004, Rochester, NY: Herb Smith and Marcus Robinson have
teamed up again to not only pull together the very best local jazz
pros to
accompany their headliner act, but have also corralled some of
Rochester's
finest jazz recording artists in one venue - The Rochester
Contemporary Jazz
Festival. This first ever event featuring some of the best of jazz
Rochester has to offer will take place at the Montage Grille, 50
Chestnut
Street, in downtown Rochester on Saturday, November 27, 2004.
Door will open around 4:00pm with the "Dinner and Jazz" set provided
by the
Eastman Jazz Trio, featuring Jeff Campbell on bass, Rich Thompson on
drums
and Clay Jenkins. This first music set will start at 5:00 pm.
Montage
Grille's will provide a fine dining and cocktail service during the
show.
Rounding this super club vibe with be the Bob Sneider Trio (

an
Eastman School of Music faculty member and former side-man with Chuck
Mangione). This set will start at 6:30 pm.
After the dinner set comes our Champagne Jazz set featuring the Bill
Tiberio

. Bill is veteran jazz man with credits including Fred Wesley, the
Yellow
Jackets, and Euge Groove to name a few. Other members of Bill's group
includes notable jazz artist such as Melvin Henderson, Gerry
Youngman, Jared
Schonig, with Harold Pannel providing vocals. The Bill Tiberio Group
will
start their set at 8:00 pm. Next up at 9:30 will be Variance Records
recording artist, Jimmie Highsmith, Jr. (

some
of the best of the smooth jazz genre. He will light up the stage at
Montage
Grille on heels of his latest CD release "Jacquin".
As if that wasn't enough great jazz from Rochester's finest, at 11:00

will take the stage featuring the seductive vocals of Cinnamon and
sultry
muted-trumpet work of Herb Smith. Marcus Robinson (on guitar) and
Smith has
pulled together some of the region's best players for this set
including
John Nyerges on keyboards (RPO, MCC VaPA Music Director), Peter
Chawzik on
bass, Steve Curry on drums, with Bill Tiberio on sax. Their soulful
blend
of jazz, funk and neo-soul will provide all the energy you will need
to "get
your party on!"
