A Note from Marcus: I Stand All Amazed: Bonnie Robinson (1949-2005)

Greetings all,

It is with great sadness and grief that I write this note to let you
know that Bonnie Robinson, my wife of 15 years, has finally succumbed
to the ravages of lung cancer. Her "home going" was graceful and
dignified. After first learning that she had advanced (stage IV)
lung cancer in December 2004 and that there were no treatment options
available to provide a cure, Bonnie made the decision to make the
most of her time by forgoing tradition cancer treatments and opting
for the best care she could find that could help her fully enjoy the
time she had left.

At that point, we used the majority of our available resources to
provide Bonnie and our family the opportunity to do many of the
things we most wanted to do but had put off for one reason or
another. We visited her friends and family around the country; we
did everything on her "must do before I die" list as her health
status would allow. After a couple of months of travel, spas,
shopping and long thoughtful conversations with the people that
matter most to her. After brief and intermittent
treatments/hospitalizations to control her pain, we had little choice
but to support Bonnie's entry into home hospice on March 3, 2005.
The 90 days that followed represent some of the most joyful, most
meaningful and absolute most memorable moments of our 16 year's
together.

Even though we chose this path, Bonnie's ongoing medical care was
meticulously handled by Dr. Jennifer Griggs, Dr. Jenna Walsh, and the
oncology staff at the Strong Cancer Center at University of
Rochester's Strong Memorial Hospital. What I appreciated most about
them was their humanity and balanced approached to the benefits of
treatment versus costs of vitality and quality of life. A real vote
of thanks goes to the staff of the Lifetime Health Hospice
organization. Their support of our family and Bonnie's well-being
was unfailing and delivered with a level of grace and humility rarely
experienced in life. A special thanks goes out to Audrey Lundy
(nurse's aid), Sherry Nelson (medical nurse) and Vikki Tilbe (social
worker).

As her primary caregiver during hospice, my deep appreciation goes
out to all of you who called and listened, who visited, who sent
flowers and cards, who cooked numerous meals, who cleaned our home,
cut our yard, who thought about us in a kind way, and for all of
those prayers that gave us comfort and support. Jason and I are most
indebted to Jude Zukosky, Susan Parker Putnam and Lisa Appell for the
countless hours you gave in service to Bonnie during this time.
Thanks also to John and Ruth Kelly, Charles Pfeffer, the families of
the RFC Futbol Club Boys U14, the faculty and staff of Allendale
Columbia for taking our son into your hearts, Jodie Atkins, the Andre
and Andrea Langston and Wendy Boyde, Lynn Kliman, Mike Cook, Rick and
Tara Papaj, Charlotte Clark, Thomas Warfield, Jimmie Highsmith, Jr.,
Zachary Putnam, the folks at Style Master's Salon and all of the
others I am sure I've left off this short list of people who gifted
us with their time and attention.

Jason is doing fine; though loosing his mom is a right of passage he
would have passed on given the choice. He continues to strive at
school with the strong support of his teachers, counselors and
coaches. Our experience over the pass three months confirms what
we've believed all along; we could not have made a better choice is
schools for our son. His athletic activities with the Rochester
Futbol Club, and NYSWSA Olympic Development Program have provided a
vital point of focus for his emotional energy. The support we've
received from the parents involved has been remarkable and greatly
appreciated.

Bonnie will be grieved and sorely missed by all of us. In
remembrance of
Bonnie:
