Here is an UPDATED review of the band at St Albans on Thur 28th May 09. I hope
you like it.

Wow! What a nite, I had an unbelievable time. The hall was packed everyone was
enjoying themselves; many did not want the show to end.

The support was Mark Flanagan, very good too; I haven't heard him play support
for a while. My favourite tune, which has the line "I Don't Know, I don't know"
anyone know the title of this song please. My Favourite.

Jools and his amazing band took to the stage around 2015 and didn't disappoint
their fans. Opening as usual with Double O Boogie, then into Fat Fred. There
were some BRAND NEW material including "Enchanted Castle", a number by monk
(Jools said he mentioned a man called "monk" which featured Phil Veacock on
Clarinet, and Michael Bammi Rose (sax), Jon Scott ( trumpet and who transcribed
the music for the number) and Fayyaz Virji who played trombone. They played all
around Jools' piano, and featured some vocals from Jools in the middle of the
song. Takes you on a little journey, and very relaxing in my view.

Also included were High Street(I have heard this number - on Live Performance
1994 – a very long time since I've heard this no, nice to hear again) and
Remember Me as well. This is a slightly different number to Hop The Wag is it
features the entire band this time. Another one that was in the set was
Snowflake Boogie as well!

Louise Marshall was there as well, along taking lead vocals on three numbers
(one of which was I went By) Tennesse Waltz and singing backing vocals on
various other songs.

Jools on guitar - first number sorry no title BUT it was a number they hadn't
tried he said and asked Chris for a C Chord - the whole song was in the key Of C
and the other was Shaking Round The Clock - I've heard it SO may times at home
now. The guest was Dave Edmunds I sang along to I Hear You Knocking, Mr
Roadrunner, Father Of The Bride, Come Back Baby, he was excellent. Jools played
guitar on the first song of Daves' – lovely. The last was an instrumental and
was very fast called the Sabre Dance - Jools was on harpsichord. I am going to
see if any of my friends / family have any of his CDS, I would like to hear
more.

Ruby Turner came on after Dave, she did Honey Hush, Abel Mabel, The
Informer, another was I Told The Truth. She was on top form as usual really
giving her all as usual. The last was Peace In The Valley.

Even Rico sang a number a Frank Sinatra song re-done in a Reggae Ska feel. It
was I've Got U Under my Skin.

The final song was well Alright, Enjoy Yourself was in one of the final encores.

Enjoy yourself!
