Hurricane Katrina Relief Convoy - Will You Please Help?
Greetings:
My Brother-in-Law, friends and I are mounting a Hurricane Katrina
relief "convoy" to Mississippi. Some contacts of theirs have
relatives there and we are going to their area to specifically aid
them with getting back on their feet and then branching out to help
neighbors and others in need we come across.
A lot of relief effort has been focused on the major metropolitan and
large town areas. These folks are more remote and they are not
getting any help.
If anyone wants to forward this to friends and family, please do so.
We intend to travel to Mississippi with trucks, vans and trailers
with equipment and supplies to aid those in need. We will be in the
devastated area for about 2 weeks. This is similar to the effort
these folks completed for Hurricane Andrew. There are 90 thousand
square miles of area affected by this disaster and they can use every
little bit of help possible. Our independent relief effort will
certainly directly help out those in need. We have no overhead and
no one will be receiving a paycheck for this work.
I am asking all my friends and neighbors to help us out with this
effort. We have a list of specific supplies we need donated directly
or money to purchase these supplies and equipment. If you are in the
Atlanta area, we can pick up "stuff" over the next few days. Our
departure target date is 8 or 9 September with a second team leaving
about 1 week later. If you are farther away, you can send any
monetary contributions you desire to:
Bill Roberts
4290 Dr. Bramblett Road
Cumming, GA 30040
We are not a for-profit organization but likewise we do not have non-
profit status, so sorry, your donations will not be tax deductible if
you care about that.

Hi!
My name is Brandy Martin and I manage and help promote the local
Atlanta band Abyss. I was wondering if you would be interested in
getting Abyss on the Bill with you in any of the clubs in Athens and
Abyss would be gladly to do the same for you. Check out Abyss at
www.abyssonline.net and hear their music and see all the shows they
have played in the past. Right now they are in the Luby's Battle of
the Bands hosted by 96rock and will be also in the Sweetwater Bar
and Grill battle of the bands in August. They also have been asked
back to play on the Sirius music stage at the 311 concert. They
played lasted year at the 3 Doors Down/311 concert. Please contact
me if you are interested in letting Abyss play with your band at
some clubs in Athens. Thank you so much for your time.

A new musician's organization is being started in mid-south Georgia.
The group will be a non-profit organization with a goal to promote
musical growth in the mid and south Georgia areas. Other goals of the
group will be to network area musicians, provide a database of
available performers for live and studio work, and to provide an
outlet for area musicians, singers, songwriters, and performers - both
professional and non - to come together and help develop the middle
Georgia music scene.
If you know of any musicians in the mid-south Georgia area that might
be interested in helping with this group, our first meeting will be on
May the 1st, with a BBQ in the afternoon followed by a 'jam session'
at the old Gene theater in McRae, Georgia.
Currently, the Gene Theater in McRae, Georgia is being remodelled to
accomodate all manners of musical needs. The theater is owned by a
world renown musical artist who has opened for Sting, played with
Clapton and B.B. King, Living Color, and others. He is interested in
developing the arts and music in the mid-south Georgia area.
When completed, the theater will possess its own in-house state of the
art sound system, in-house recording capabilities, offer a musicians'
lounge and comfotable housing within walking distance of the theater.
These are the goals of the organization. Future goals include
offering the theater as a 'practice pad' for professional groups about
to go on tour, as well as for masterclasses by world renown artists,
and to be used in all manners of civic functions, concerts, events,
etc.
This endeavor is just now 'taking off', but we could use a lot of word
of mouth over the next few months. If anyone is interested in being
associated with an organization which promotes the local music scene
and local musicians in the mid-south Georgia area, please contact me
and you will be added to our database.
As we are just beginning with this group, all suggestions are
appreciated. The name of this organization hasn't been made as of
yet, but will be named soon. If you'd like to have input into this
group, please do. Let's get the music scene in Middle and South
Georgia happening!

Sorry for the lack of updates recently, but new news is coming soon.
Blackwater has been working with a new bass player (Derek) and is
again booking shows, so keep an eye open for announcements on
performances.
The band has recorded a new demo EP. Josh will be sending me a copy,
so I'll be converting it to mp3 files and posting songs online when I
get the disc.
Look for Blackwater to be performing outside of Georgia this summer,
so they may be coming your area.
peace,
~shredder
ps, anyone with photos or video from Blackwater performances please

what you have. Thanks!
