Hi list,

My K5000s was just like that when I first got it. Due to me relocating I
decided to open the unit and have a got at fixing this myself. It turns
out there was a short between a couple of the connector pins on the
actual rotary encoder making the down movement the only one available. I
suggest that you open yours and have a look - it could be really simple.
Just measure for shorts across the encoder in case you don't see
anything obvious.
