Hi,
I'm not sure about the issue. Perhaps a dead screen could be the
problem. I just thought I'd mention that the S is probably a better
option than the W these days, and has the same keybed, I believe.
I use the rack btw, which is OK, and suits my space well enough. I have
to use MIDI controls rather than on-board knobs, though.
Unless it was a specially good deal, and you really need those features
unique to the W, I would consider picking up an S elsewhere.
Anyway, how do you like the synth?

It sounds to me like your display is going bad. LCD displays usually make noise when they fail.
In particular it seems that one of the display components is overheating or being overloaded by a faulty component. Power cycling the unit will clear it up but it will most likely get worse with time. I have a rack mount unit but would much rather have a keyboard model. Not just for the keys but also for the knobs which the rack doesn't have.
The display shouldn't be too expensive to replace. I have purchased displays for a few synths from a company called Telesis. Contact them and see if they can order you a replacement.
I recently purchased a Kawai K5000W used, and after getting it home, discovered it had a glitch. Sporadically, there is a white noise sound followed by the display cutting out. The synth still functions. Cycling the power immediately brings things back to normal. The synth is in otherwise perfect condition, but I took it back to the shop (the guy runs a great well known repair shop) for a check.
I am concerned and wonder if I should keep it now or return it. He also has a rackmount available but I wanted the workstation for its excellent keyboard.
Could this be a software issue? It is running v4.3.

Fwiw I never encountered that kind of behaviour in 7+ years.

Hello,
I recently purchased a Kawai K5000W used, and after getting it home, discovered it had a glitch.

Check the archives on the screen replacement, theres a ton of info from
4-5 years back.

Thanks for checking. Nice to know exactly what we all have in our K5K's.
