As KMIN AM 980, one of the KDSK and KD Radio sister stations in Grants, New
Mexico,
approaches its 50th birthday this summer in July, happy events are taking place.
The
KMIN celebration includes a chance for somebody to win twenty five thousand
dollars
($25,000.00) on Saturday July 8th at the Dancing Eagle Casino, on Interstate-40
just east
of Grants.
Also for it's 50th birthday in July, the KMIN AM 980 music format was changed
earlier
this month. KMIN has gone back to it's heritage Country Music format, with a
specially
designed Sound Souvenir format for Country Music. KMIN now plays all things
Country
with music from the late 1940's to today hits. Listeners have been giving KMIN
AM 980 a
wonderful response as the station plays songs some folks haven't heard in many
years.
The Rock format that was on KMIN AM 980 was moved to sister station KQNM AM
1100AM (a daytime-only station also in Grants), while shifting it away from very
hard rock
to more Alternative and Adult Album Alternative (AAA).
All three stations, including KDSK-FM as well as KMIN-AM and KQNM-AM, are
getting
many new sponsors, after sponsors find how well radio works for them in Western
New
Mexico.
